Sir please clarify how msp and pds is against wto policies.if government procures crop at msp and export to other countries how it is trade distortion? Please clarify sir.

Msp is under Amber box and subsidies under amber box are considered as market distorting so a limit is given to developed countries 5% and developing 10% and 1986-87 is the base year for production. And you should know the condition of India’s during 1986 and other western countries as the later were producing more then developing so 10% cap is not sufficient and India many times via its PSH breaches this 10% cap and we invoke peace clause whenever we are breaching our cap but we have to inform in advance to wto about this breaching. And about msp and psh our govt(FCI) purchases crops under msp and maintain buffer stocks even beyond buffer stocks we have stock. So whenever there is in sort of mismatch in demand supply of crops in market our govt releases it via Open market sale. And consumer purchases this in very reasonable rate so we don’t give chance to foreign grains that comes to India plus we charge high import duties so their grains becomes expensive and Indians do not purchases their. And we give export subsidies as well apart from procuring in msp so again we are benefitted from this subsidies.. so our giving of subsidies to our farmers and exporters is headache for them and their market goods..for eg- India after giving all kind of subsidies+ msp export its 1 quintal wheat for ₹1200 whereas USA sell this same qty at 19$ that is 1500 ₹ something so it is obvious everyone wanted to buy Indian grains internationally and giving other countries no/ less chance . MSP and PDS(Agricultural subsidies) are placed in the amber box of WTO which is not encouraged by WTO and developing countries as these measures are said to be distortive.
