A few friends and I decided to start a book club and the only people who contribute seem to be me, the person who is running it and one other lady. Nobody else contributes! I’ll talk about the book and the founder/leader says “thanks for sharing that” and that’s it. There’s like no discussion! It’s really bizarre. We try not to pressure people to read on a schedule and we encourage discussion even if it is not directly related to the book and people still don’t talk much. I don’t know what to do to get the discussion rolling! We choose usually one fiction, one non-fiction book and one lighter read to be discussed on a sort of rolling basis.

Yeah, that's super frustrating. One thing I'll note is that "thanks for sharing that" isn't a way of moving a conversation forward. If you think about how conversations happen organically, each person reacts to what the person said before and then adds their own idea, and then the other person feeds off that. It happens even when you're talking about what you want for dinner. I have a few other videos on what makes for good discussion that you might find helpful. You need at least a few neuro-spicy member. And a proper ratio of introvert to extroverts.
