I’m a guy and by looking at me you wouldnt think I would be interested in a book club but I want to join one so bad but I’m embarrassed and honestly don’t feel like I’m welcome or would fit in at anybody’s book club being a black man with hip hop dressing style so I’m thinking I might start my own and make it open to everyone. Maybe post the invitation at the library or something? Any ideas for finding members outside of my regular friend circle?

I started a book club about 21/2 years ago and it is one of my most favorite groups. We have 6 people and we take turns being the discussion leader. Whoever leads, chooses the book we read. We have had movie nights at my home or if a movie is made after reading the book, we go to the theater together to see it. It has been great fun! We sometimes discuss a book for over 3 hours.

Great tips. I started a bookclub (composed of young professionals) at the beginning of this year and I must say that the experience is worthwhile and impactful. First, It has helped me be consistent with my reading habit. And secondly, the diversity and learning from other people's persepectives.

I’m hosting a virtual and inperson book club My reason for starting a book club is to bring women together I don’t have friends so I wanted to host a book club to form a Sisterhood reading books and having fun. We have a open form on What’s app. Most of the women that said they wanted to be apart has not been apart 🙁 We have a Christian women’s book club.
