Regarding seed phrase security, or that of any other database of secret info, the best practice is encryption and redundant DISTRIBUTED backups, both locally and cloud, the more the better. After all, only you have the encryption key to see them. My favourite is KeePassXC.

Go for a hardware wallet. These things are actually fun. I have a Trezor one, Ledger Nano S and a Coldcard and I love'em all. I had some crypto on Cake Defi for the interest payments and although that platform hasn't been hacked (yet) I took everything off quite a while ago in order to sleep better. And after the FTX collapse I'm really glad I did. It's just too risky.

The orginal point of crypto was to be independent from financial institutions and take finance into your own hands. Keeping it on exchanges goes against it. I was guilty of it myself and kept mine on binance because they payed nice %. Not anymore. Better late then never. Im one of the lucky ones that havent lost nothing.

Ok, so I’m failing to understand how you lose anything less. Mine is staked, earning a higher % than inflation. The price of it is the same when you sell it regardless of it being in personal storage or an exchange minus some fees. If you can’t afford teller fee why the fuck are you using it. A VERY important point with hardware wallets (Ledger/Trezor) is to ONLY buy from Ledger (France) or Trezor directly. Don’t buy off eBay. It’s too easy for your seed to be compromised. It costs a bit more and takes a bit longer BUT IT’s WORTH IT. Resellers have been known to buy the wallets, compromise it, and re-wrap with plastic wrap.

As a web developer, I would be veeeery weary about using a browser wallet. Malicious extensions and websites may be able to scape info out of your wallet. Particularly when you're using it. For small amounts it's probably fine, but I wouldn't use it for anything over a few thousand bucks.

Metamask doesn't only support Ethereum and ERC20 tokens. It allows you to store AVAX (C-Chain), FTM (not sure if that's ERC20 though), Polygon and BSC, you just need to set them up. It also supports Pulsechain

Great as usual,as a newbie, I had bought a trezor and was not very confident at useing it. With the recent carry on I decided to get it off exchanges and went to trezor suite I o , when I tried to connect a message said I needed to send my seed phrase as there was a problem. Well you can guess the rest, I knew you should never give your seed phrase but it was on the trezor I o site . I wish they had a proper app. Fortunately I did not loose that much and it was a very good lesson. Education always seems to be painful or expensive. So watch the sites and never give seed phrases

I ditched exodus because I had trouble with unstaking... put the same key in my phantom wallet and it fixed everything for me. That said, I never really cared for the way the interface works on it, and I don't use it any more. Also, it's sometimes prudent to have multiple accounts. I have several different "wallets" on my browser MM, one for minting Degen NFTs, one for doing trades and such, one for business income, a "cold" wallet for my favorite NFTs, etc. Certain wallets are never connected to any website.

I bought a new ledger nano X from a local reseller and you can buy it just make sure you first run the Ledger check and then reset the wallet once, so it will generate a new seed + you can open the wallet and look if there are any weird things.

I think this video is timely. I attempted to send crypto from Coinbase to a hardware wallet. It disappeared into the ether. Coinbase customer service offered no help whatsoever. Fortunately, it wasn't a great deal of money. Naturally, I converted the rest of the account into cash and sent it to my bank account, another high risk institution. From there it was converted into metals. To answer potential questions ahead of time: Yes, I followed the instructions, and yes, I verified the keys for times before proceeding.

This is a confusing topic for me. I have coins in Uniswap, I provide liquidity in one of the pools. Uniswap is a DEX but, correct me if I'm wrong but when I provide liquidy to pools, I am technically putting my coins outside my wallet and into this Dex. If Uniswap collapses, for whatever reason, it will take my coins with it. Is this statement correct? I'm not sure though because it's a smart contract. If the my statement is true, however, then there is no safe project. Can someone shed light please.

Good job on mentioning seed words, but you missed on multi-signature (Very easy to do with Sparrow) where you can literally get a virus on your computer and still not get your Bitcoin stolen because the other computers (or phones if you use nunchuk wallet) haven't been hacked and you need a number of those physical devices in order to spend. Additionally, with downloading software, you can verify the hash or pgp signature of the software to verify that its real. For this reason, I say good job on talking about hardware wallets, but without verifying the authenticity of the software via a hash or pgp key, those wallets can be hacked. (don't trust, verify and you can not be hacked) Hardware wallets while verifying their software and firmware, are good.

I've found cash to be a safer and better investment so I just cashed out and put it a bank earning 4% interest since late 2021. I'll buy back in when crypto grows up. Little worry about paying the bills, theft or someone jetting off to Argentina. FDIC insured wallet is about the safest place to be, other than a little bit of gold on hand too.

Why do you never talk about Paper Wallets. Or better still engraved metal wallets? These is properly protected against theft or destruction are even safer than electronic wallets which can also be damaged, stolen, or fail to work properly? (Paper Wallets are totally free (after the cost of the paper and pen/ink)

I'm really starting to wonder if the not your keys not your coin thing is a good way to go, sure you don't lose your coins when the exchange goes bankrupt, but if some a**hole just crash the whole market with a scam..what's the point? Might as well just ditch everything and go all in on "stablecoins" and CBDCs at this point.

I just wanted to say with the ledger live app you can send crypto to your wallet address (w/o verification if you don’t have your device on you). However to send out you do need your device on you. So I wouldn’t worry too much about that app on the phone

MetaMask supports other networks as well..? I use it with Avalanche, Binance Smart Chain and Polygon

So, tell me how the value of your holdings increases by storing it this way? It seems it is equivalent to putting cash under a mattress. At least keeping it at an exchange was a strategy to offer returns - even though the ridiculous yields touted were sure signs of fraud. My advice is to sell everything now and put your money in a bank savings account until you learn something about proper investing. The normal reaction when you burn your hand on a stove is to move it away quickly.
