One of the graphics I used for Europe here is apparently missing some countries (it is highly stylised and all) and I did not notice when I first bought it from Envato I am sorry for that ok I am a one-woman team doing everything I will do better let's retcon this and pretend it was intentional and a funny joke I put in order to drive engagement and more comments. EDIT: also for some reason the youtube processing/encoding made the 2 stereo audio channels uneven with one having a slightly higher volume than the other, i tried contacting youtube support about that and i hope they can help me fix it soon qwq sorry for that i hope that is not too annoying
@Chubby_Bub11 ай бұрын
The amount of effort you put in this video is (as always) insanely impressive, all the more so that you did it entirely by yourself. The way you seamlessly made the video's content look like it was something else kept getting me. You needn't apologize for a brief graphic most people probably didn’t even notice the mistake with. That said, the highly stylized map of Europe you included was a pretty funny joke and increased my engagement with the video.

Afaik the Wii Mini was more so marketed towards underdeveloped countries and retirement homes, who would probably not be connecting their Wii to the internet and much less likely to buy points on it. I think Wii Sports selling Wiis is a good explanation of why they never really bundled full games with any console afterwards, like how everyone thought the Switch would have had a sports game bundled with it. It's weird to think that debit cards weren't enabled for online spending. I've always used a debit card since I never wanted to get in debt. I know at the time the Wii launched I was already making purchases online with it in various places. It never occurred to me that not all cards would work with online merchants.
@a_meme_name11 ай бұрын
By 2010 there were a lot of banks in Australia issuing Visa or Mastercard debit cards which can be used online, but the "EFTPOS" debit cards which were still pretty common couldn't be used online (and still can't even now, although they're seen much less often these days).
@Daniel15au11 ай бұрын
@@a_meme_name Most Aussie cards are dual-network these days. If you use it as "credit" or tap to pay, it uses the Mastercard or Visa network. If you use it as "debit" or "cheque", it uses the EFTPOS network which is processed entirely in Australia and has significantly lower fees for the merchant. Dual network cards are very uncommon worldwide and AFAIK only Australia has them in widespread use.
@Daniel15au11 ай бұрын
Generally only the Visa, Mastercard, and American Express worked online, whereas in Europe it wasn't uncommon to see things like the Maestro card, which is still used to this day (although Maestro was recently discontinued so they'll go away at some point).

@@Poosaycvm I'm Aussie but have been living in the USA for a little over 10 years now. When I left Australia in 2013, tap to pay was already commonplace - everyone used it. It was strange moving to the USA (to Silicon Valley!) and finding that the technology wasn't being used here at all! Some of my US cards didn't get tap to pay support until last year. In Australia, transactions over $100 needed you to enter your PIN or use biometric authentication (e.g. fingerprint on your phone). This limit was increased to $200 during COVID. The idea that people don't see the loss of money in paying for things with credit cards is scary. With a debit card, you pay $10 from your bank account. With a credit card you pay someone else's $10 which you then have to pay back with interest. Meaning you're actually spending more money.
