This video will show you how to Install and remove a solenoid pack kit in a Dodge Ram, offer Tips and Recommendation. Is your Ram stuck in 4th Gear? Replacing your solenoid pack should get your truck back up and running perfectly. There are MANY helpful and insightful tips and recommendations in this video. My data comes strictly from Chrysler software and not playing the guessing game.
NOTE: Does your truck have over 50k miles? If so, you too should change your fluid in your transmission. You don't have to change the solenoid pack.
Below I have listed some models this kit or video will apply to. However, it is important that you check your transmission model #.
Transmission Models;
45RFE or 45-RFE
545RFE or 5-45RFE
68RFE or 68-RFE
Compatible;
2007-2009 Chrysler Aspen
2000-2011 Dodge Dakota with 4.7 / 5.7
1998-2011 Durango 3.6 / 4.7 / 5.7
2007-2010 Dodge Raider 4.7
2007-2011 Dodge 2500-3500 6.7
2002-2012 Ram 1500 3.7 / 4.7 / 5.7
2004-2011 Ram 2500 4.7 /5.7
2007-2017 Dodge 2500 6.7

2009-2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7
2005-2006 Jeep Liberty 2.8 / 3.7
2007-2011 Jeep Wranglers 2.8

thanks alot. I changed my mothers 07 ram shift pack 2 weeks ago following this video. Her truck is no longer stuck in 4th gear and her transmission is back to working fine. The new shift pack also got rid of the hard jerks when switching gears especially on reverse

Just replaced this sensor bank on my 2014 Ram 1500 and honestly without your video I would have been lost. The only thing I can think to improve the guide would be a footnote in your description of the times in the video of key parts. I skimmed through to find them as I only needed certain information, but this video was / is amazing. Thank you for saving me God knows how much money at a shop!

*You do NOT have to pull off the pan and solenoid pack to see what color plug you have. Simply just disconnect the plug on the outside of the tranny, and you will see if you have white or grey. Also ram recommends a “QUIK LEARN” before driving. Have you had any issues driving without a quik learn? I bought both the grey plug and white plug versions from the ram dealer. One was $550 and the other was $650. Parts manager wrote “white”’and “grey” on each specific box. Not sure if he screwed up, or ram…but the box he wrote “grey” on had the white plug in it. “White” had grey🤦🏻 Thanks again for taking the time to make this video. It was EXTREMELY easy the way you showed how to do it.

I've done many of these WITHOUT a quick learn. My truck as well as all of the rest still drives amazing. The ONLY issue I have ever had was buying the cheap version. The moment I swapped out to a MOPAR kit, everything was perfect. I've used them every time. I also could have saved you lots of money on those parts. Well, thank you SO much for watching.

HI Katie, I'm pretty sure this may fix you guys problem as well. It's a very common issue. However, make sure your husband use and OEM replacement part if he decides to proceed with the fix. Terrence you are one special fella buddy! To perform that job in freezing Chicago weather is just amazing! I have a very well kept, babied 2010 Ram 2500 6.7 and just today I experienced this 4th gear thing. Once I shut it down and restarted it was fine again. I tow a nice 64 Sport Fury convertible 426 car to shows and I need the truck to be dependable. I will be ordering this solenoid pack Monday from a Dodge dealer I have been dealing with for over 20 years. Yes I am a technician in a small town here in Virginia. I only specialize in A/C & Hunter wheel alignment. This video has given me lots of info to do the job correctly. I want to give you huge thanks for what you do and only wish I could thank you in person. Stay safe and keep doing what you do! Dave

I got mine fixed today following this video, and if I hadn't been given the wrong filter it would have been zero issues. Did it twice on my 2011 Ram and now it's time for my 2016. WTF you'd think Chrysler would have this figured out. Ats on KZbin has a spacer kit harness to avoid doing over againand again. Basically it provides 300 PSI pressure instead of 160 which constantly fails. It will insert a spacer plate in between the valve bodies to create more pressure and they provide you a little computer so the computer reads the new pressure. Strictly for your information I'm not doing it like I said because of cost. But yes this guy did a good job on his video

I was trying to determine if I was going to replace the solenoid pack for a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L hemi Sport. It hasn’t slipped into 4th gear yet but it’s well on its way. Trying to be proactive. Anyway keep up the momentum. Videos like this are a blessing to diy’fers like myself. Hi Angela B, I am glad my video helped you guys and gave you a little laugh! Lol. It's awesome that you do all of the work and help others. Keep up the great work! As far as changing that solenoid pack, I think you should wait until it goes into 4th gear or limp mode. This will give you a clear indicator that the solenoid pack has become faulty. Is your truck throwing in trouble codes? Is the transmission shifting correctly? I'm asking because I want to know why you think you have to change the pack. Thanks, Terence
@angelab1353
@angelab1353 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I am still in research phase so I wasn’t planning to do it until I confirm that’s the true issue. It’s been shifting incorrectly for the past several months. Sometimes it will not start and says reverse when it should be in drive and it was getting worse. First set of codes were P0403 and P0141which I originally thought meant I needed to replace the egr valve but since this model doesn’t have an egr valve I then knew it had to be either legit communication issues with the control panel or worst case scenario, the transmission solenoid. The first codes were read using T-Mobile sync up drive which stays plugged into the truck at all times. I read somewhere that this device potentially throws erroneous codes so I unplugged it..put it on an auto body diagnostic and dtc were same U0141, U0403 U110E, U110C. I decided to try rebooting the pcu yesterday by unplugging the battery for 10 minutes and it cleared the codes but I’m not sure that’s it. So, that’s where I am today. Still testing. I’m narrowing down the issues and I’m willing to bet it’s either one of the following: 1. A component within the TIPM needs to be replaced 2. The the whole TIPM needs to be replaced 3. The TMobile Sync Drive needs to stay removed because it’s a generic crock of crap that’s throwing the fuse panel 4. Worst case scenario I got some transmission issues and perhaps the solenoid pack needs to be replaced.

The perseverance of completing the job in those frigid conditions with the wind howling, brrhhh. I'm in Montreal, Canada so I have good idea of what you faced.
