I had a forte copy, I only played it in a large room and it sounded better than my two rock and other cabs I've had for sure

I built a cab similar to the Port City 2x12 vertical oversize cab and it was definitely the best sounding cab I ever had, once I got the right speakers in it, which happen to be WGS Reapers. I sold it and now wish I didn’t but I have slowly started to build another, only it will be 2x10.

you're doing god's work with all these videos. and hopefully selling more cabinets for it!

I've used them all since the mid seventies. For me, a 2x12 with a semi open back sounds best as it spreads around the room and has good highs mids and bass.

You haven't used an AVD cab though, have you? ;-)

I have a Port City OS 1x12 that I'm quite happy with. But all of my amps sound better through my early 80's Marshall 4x12 (original G12T-75's). My experience is that the more speakers, the better.

Thanks for another informative video! How about discussing the low cut filter on the AVD cabs? For example, does cutting the lows make it more efficient?

I think there is most to gain on bass cabs. Guitars tends to get muddy with to much low end.

You will get destructive and constructive interference from the frequencies coming out of the back of the barefaced cab as well as the Forte and Port City cabs you mention. Whether this is bad or good is in the ears of the listener. Still, your design does look intriguing, I hope to try one some day

I think there’s at least another video in explaining this - but in short, omnidirectional lower frequencies are phase corrected by the AVD to match the cone output whilst directional higher frequencies are two separate sources, cone and AVD, radiating in a figure 8 pattern. These higher frequencies are two separate sounds from an acoustics perspective (due to the delay between them vs the period of the waves involved) but become a single sound due to the psycho-acoustics of how the brain melds similar delayed sounds to earlier sounds.

Where can I try your products out here in California...is the horizontal the best of both worlds...or does the vertical holds to the surround sound experience? Is it a big difference between the 2? I'm coming from a 2x12 sealed although it sounds killer when practicing right in front of it... during live gigs it tends not to sound the same leading me to turn it up but not getting the same tone. Thnx

We sell direct all over the world so the only way to try one is if we have a friendly customer near you. However we’re very good at matching players to cabs so drop us an email and we’ll see how we can help! The Radical 212H and Uprising 212V are similar yet different and tend to suit different players and amps - neither is better or worse, they’re both great but the key is matching you to the right one!
