I wish they would talk about how food that contains beta carotene like dandelions and cantaloupe can change their pee colour, once my Rabbit tried both on the same day and next morning her pee was orange, I was so worry, luckily I read about it and knew right away it was only the food she ingested and the next day she was peeing just fine.

This is super helpful, thank you. My rabbit is excreting a lot of calcium in his urine right now. The x-ray showed there to be no stones or sediment in his bladder or kidneys (for now). He has arthritis in his left foot, so he's at risk for having bladder issues, so the vet and I are managing his joint issues to meloxicam and glucosamine. I'm encouraging my bunny to drink more water with a few drops of freshly squeezed pineapple juice in his water crock, and so far it's working. I would hate to have to give him SubQ fluids on a regular basis, but I will if I have to

We freaked out when we found red pee stains in our rabbits litter (it's recycled paper pellets, unbleached) and were about to call our Vet right away, but had a wait and see. Turns out that his pee is a cloudy pale yellow (think white chocolate) and upon contact with paper turns red. We were watching him pee, wiped off the puddle with paper towels and after some minutes they were rust colored. If the puddle dries off normally, there's almost no sediment. Have you ever seen pee "oxidize"?

I slightly disagree with the idea that you should be ok with it if you see poos strung together with hair. If I see that I start brushing, its not good. If the rabbit is ingesting fur it could lead to a gut slow down or blockage so your goal should be to brush more so you don't get necklace poos.

@@pankudi4574 if it's just red/orange without any blood in it it's most likely caused by a certain food you give them. For example dandelion or fennel causes that but also many more. I NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE : I was playing with my 2 bunnies and then i put them back in the box , after 2 hours i came to check on them and there was red liquid on the box it looked like tabasco so it was kindaaa orange . I dont know if its pee or vomit but i think its pee and i dont know if i should take her to the vet or if its normal . Oh and the fur around her mouth was also red .

Rabbits cant vomit and their urine sometimes turns into orange or red when they digest certain fruits such as banana peels. You should watch them for 6 hrs to see if they get lethargic or stop eating and pooping since that's an indication of emergency and have to be taken to the vet immediately. Hope they are ok. I hate it when my bunny gets sick.

Thank you for your video. My case is a bit different. I had my rabbits escape their cage and they may have gotten ahold of some rat poison. I took them to the vet immediately and she gave them activated charcoal and prescribed them Cisapride. They went in for a checkup Friday and she then prescribed them vitamin k 5mg which is literally impossible to find. I tried contacting the vet on several occasions today and didn’t get a prompt respond. I just noticed that one of the rabbits peed a very dark orange and I’m scared that it’s associated with blood. They are acting completely fine and have a good appetite. Should I be worried? I would really appreciate a response as you do seem like an expert.

Hi , hello ... may I ask Dr. , my beloved 10 year old rabbit died at the hands of a vet 5 hours ago. Last night .my rabbit is breathing fast and seems having difficulty . She ate well and the poo are all good in size. So morning cones I travel to the vet ( not our regular vet because we moved ) and told them that my rabbit is having breathing problem. They made us wait for almost 30 mins. And never give my bunny oxygen. Instead the vet came and did the heart rate pulse and physical exam. My rabbit is so scared and cant breathe , the vet stop her from moving but my rabbit kept on trying to get away. My rabbit screamed for the 1st time I heard any sound from her. After 3 screams the vet let her go but she fell inconscious and thats the time the vet gaave her oxygen. Too late in my opinion. I cant believe shes gone I cried so hard and the other staff offered me a small.rabbit if incase I want to adopt. I am out of my self so I dont understand whatever they're saying...all I want is my beloved bunny...she kissed me this morning before we went to the vet....my soul is shattered..please any thoughts is the vet is not good in handling my rabbit ?

i check my rabbit's poop everyday to see if they are healthy or not but i dunno how to check their pee ....since i don't use paper underneath their cage, i use hay and umm i think its wood shaving, its bedding for rabbits so whenever they pee it will get absorbed into their bedding :/

If you use wood shavings, just make sure they're the type that won't cause respiratory problems. Aspen and Spruce shavings are good, pine and cedar may cause problem.

Pine and cedar shavings are linked to problems. If you want to continue using wood shavings, your best option is Aspen shavings. You could also do recycped paper bedding like Carefresh or CleanandCozy

Hi, i know that this video has been published a long time ago but i need some advise right now. I have baby rabbits 5 days old. The momma rabbit doesnt want to take care of the kits so i'm help them feed from their mother but during the urine simulation process one of them doesnt really want to urinate. His tummy looks more bloated than the other babies as well. We dont have any rehab here for rabbits. Vets will cost a fortune as well. All i can do right now is to research.
