Identity is all around you. Whether you’re consuming social media, reading a book, streaming a new series online, or having a conversation with a friend or family member, you are receiving signals from the world that shape your self-identity. From the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed, your self-identity is switched on and telling you the parameters of which you need to live in. What if we can escape this box we’ve built around us? What does true freedom from excuses look like? On this episode of Impact Theory, world-renowned speaker, author, and venture capitalist Vusi Thembakwayo joins Tom Bilyeu to discuss such matters and more as they explore the controversial ideas of self-identity, freedom of the mind, and why you have no excuse to begin taking action today. They discuss how self-identity can limit our potential, why being free doesn’t mean living in freedom, why you have to have a willingness to fail, how to be your own savior, and the inspiration of Nelson Mandela.

its not true though many are more intelligent than others
@lawrencelaw8311
@lawrencelaw8311 3 жыл бұрын
@@dmonk952 question is, how does intelligence come about? People become intelligent by equipping themselves with knowledge, and this knowledge they only acquire it through learning. No one is born a genius. Its people who develop passion for things and therefore open their minds to learning more with the goal of mastering that become geniuses. They dont just learn to become knowledgeable. They learn to even better their learning, and thats why i can show you something completely new to you and it takes you a week to figure out but you find there is someone just as non knowledgeable about it as you who can figure it out within a space of a few hours. So learning to become a better learner, i think thats how geniuses become. So what you see as "intelligent people", is actually people who have learnt to learn better. Nobody perfectly figures it out the 1st time. its always about learning and i think thats what Vusi means.

I've been saying the same for so many years. As a South African I have consistently said the reason why we can't progress faster is because we stay focused on the emotion. Our leaders stick to identity politics and create tribal division rather than the unity required to move forward as a nation.

As a Cameroonian, I see everything Vusi says as clearly as the morning sun. I have thesame ambitions of changing the mindset of Africans by action and not by words. I read ferociously, Listened to hundreds of TEDX talks and motivational videos. I'm currently re-writing the second draft of my first book and as soon as I'm done, I'm starting the second book for which I already have an outline. Africa needs radical thinkers like Vusi and I hope that someday I get to meet him and join forces to emancipate my fellow brothers and sisters from this limited mindset. Thank you Tom for putting him on the spotlight. Your videos inspire me everyday.

👍Agree💯 It’s the mindset that has to change first. Very difficult. It is so difficult, that not even God can change it. Just think of this: The children of Israel, in the Bible, were 40 years in the desert. All because of their mindset. This man may be young, but full of wisdom more than most older people nowadays. I’m so glad to hear him speak! God bless him. And God bless you in your future endeavors.

@OTrainerPro
@OTrainerPro 10 ай бұрын
I disagree... it's much better to believe in yourself FIRST and have those who believe in you afterwards so that you may accurately know what it truly means to be "believed in" ... I say that because many people believe in the wrong people, such as narcissists --people without "true" self-belief and who tend to misconstrue your belief for being needy, manipulative, or over-emotional. And therefore ruin the relationship entirely due to self-sabotage .. Discernment and self-love is KEY! ...

what I mean is do you want the emotion or the progress? He explained what he meant by giving an example when someone is working out in Gym , the brain says don’t do it no more you have done enough but that’s just your brain trying to protect you as usual but that’s where the real progress starts when you’re start feeling the pain. So either you choose to carry on work out or quit you can’t have them both.👌👌👌

He captured me within less than 3 minutes into the video by saying "The test is not whether or not you know the reasons for not succeeding, the test is whether or not you're willing to do whatever it takes to get to that next level." WOW... And then so many other powerful pieces of insight shared throughout the conversation! Great video. Thoroughly enjoyed this topic. "You are not your mind. You are not your intellect. Who you are is not your thoughts. You are not your beliefs. You are not your memories. You are not your conflicts. You are not those things that you identify with. The mystery of who you are exists beyond the reach and the realm of the intellect and beyond the reality of the body. But you are inhabiting this body now. And the intellect is there to help you to navigate this world and to participate here. It is a marvelous vehicle of communication. It is exquisite, profound and capable of doing marvelous things if it is cultivated correctly. But for all students of Knowledge in all traditions, it is necessary to realize the difference between your real nature, your deeper nature, and the makeup of your mind and your system of beliefs, however organized or disorganized they might be. That you live at the surface of the mind and do not know of its depths, its mystery and its true power and abilities-this must be a recognition, or you will think that spirituality is a belief or a system of beliefs. You will think that spiritual practice is about reinforcing ideas, reinforcing beliefs, and, of course, this is tremendously manipulated by government and religious institutions-the manipulation of belief because most people are not yet aware that who they are is not their minds, and so they think that what they think is what they are, and it represents their reality. Once you are able to break this assumption and this fixation, a whole door begins to open to your inner life, where you will soon experience that you have a greater nature, a deeper nature beyond your thoughts and ideas. Sit still for twenty or thirty minutes, and this will become very apparent to you."
