The worst one for me is the "Instagram photo" style. It's those outfits in photos that get lots of attention and likes for the artistc posing, colors, and style, but when you see it in motion(someone wearing it to the grocery store, or hanging out at the mall), it just looks so weird and out of place.
@tal44662 жыл бұрын

Some of those outfits are like my long hair, as soon as I move a bit it shifts and looks bad. Luckily I love having a bun anyway, I can't STAND when a part of my outfit requires frequent readjustment, it's gotta be comfy and practical.

I think the Peaky Blinders style looks objectively good. Unfortunately it falls into the category of "trying too hard" to achieve a look. It never quite looks natural on people. I live in Washington state, so we get plenty of outdoor gear and workwear, and it's so easy to look stylish without sticking out and looking unnatural in your setting.

I like influences of those bygone eras. I love flat hats, crombie coats, brogues or lace up boots, etc.
@conbro0985 Жыл бұрын
I wear classic men’s style, so people often associate it with peaky blinders. It is the hardest style to pull off straight up considering you have to shop vintage or vintage style, you have to actually study it to know what is true of the era and only then when you achieve this you get the look. So yeah it’s trying hard but it’s worth it.
@Sunrah Жыл бұрын
i dress like this (also minimalist depends on day/season) and my philosophy is "there's no such thing as overdressing". if you are the best dressed guy in the room, you aren't overdressed, they are underdressed.
@halmget3198 Жыл бұрын
I think there are two main reasons why the Peaky Blinders style looks try hard with the first one being the modern lines used in theoratically almost all the formal clothing we wear. Just think about the evolution of our pants from 1850s to our current timeline. Many things have changed but the people who want to dress similar to the 20s don’t realise this fact they use modern fabric modern lines modern formalities with modern tops but pair these with the 20s ideology thus it looks try hard. The other is the environment imo. Currently we continue to develop the industrial revolution. This brought loads of different factors into our lives and allowed us to tune our aesthetics into efficiency. Our buildings roads cars everything evolved into what brings us surplus and this made our styles serve to the effective.

My style being a mix of workwear, gorpcore, minimalism, and almost entirely thrifted, this boosted my ego a little too much. I will confess to being a bit of a sneakerhead and also wearing a decent mix of more basic skate/surf core, but I think a sprinkle of this paired with those other styles does well to enhance it.

As soon as I got a better paying Job I started buying more slow fashion brands and is GREAT. You just have to choose well and already know what your style is to play around with it. The quality is totally on another level, from the fabric to the fit. They take in consideration the population wearing it, not some random european standard. First time I buy shirts and pants that fits my body well without tayloring (black latin body shape are slight different than an european-ish that is used in fast fashion). but I can say I'm a minimalist who wears colors now, because it ain't cheap

Style has to fit your environment. I live in Copenhagen. It's bad weather most of the time and we bike all the time. A style like the peaky blinders does not work for me because when you have to bike to school in the rain with a west and a long jacket, you most likely end up in the gutter.

I personally buy a bunch of military surplus, vintage or cold war. However I rarely wear multiple army pieces at once because I'm not tryna be like a milita soldier or larper. Specially hate mixing camo patterns. I tend to mix older surplus jerseys or jackets/parkas in drab with minimalist I guess. Wax leather boots, dark jeans. And the more modern surplus parka's poncho's with more "gorp" and dark sneakers. Sometimes the older surplus drab mixes with workwear well too. (Or more traditional "gorp" like fjäll räven, if you can even call it gorp) I like durable clothing as I generally am outside. But I do like to make it work style wise too.

If people cannot do it well, they simply didn't studied enought to know the right proportion and the fit that a suit should have to look great, or even when and where you can wear a color instead of another. I think my style is the best for me and the worst for other people. I would put myself as currently in the minimalist. Mostly because I want to buy 2-3 pairs of 500 shoes then wear them everyday for like 15 years. Then I do that with every piece of clothing. The cool thing though if you buy something of high quality it will retain some value. Like I bought a gucci belt for 480 wore it till I was done and still got 300 because I took care of it. Put 150 into my savings then use the other 150 to the new belt I wanted. That's how I do clothes. If I buy cheap it's to test something out.
