Hi Carolin, played 18 holes (strokeplay) last Saturday and scored a net 66. This was down to this video on taking the club away properly (one piece takeaway using your core etc) and your other video on 'Break the Chain of Early Extension TODAY!' which talked about weight on the balls of your feet at the start of the backswing. Absolutely transformed my swing and hence game. Thank you very much for great content and presentation.

Hi Carolin, I played 9 holes at Montrejeau today. It was very busy as the weather was brilliant and everybody and his brother was out playing so the round took a long time. But that meant I had plenty of time to think about each shot and keep the video of your take away and swing playing in my mind. I shot 41 for the 9 holes and even got a birdie on the 8th hole, which is a par 4. I was so chuffed I sent my wife a Whatsapp message seconds after I sank the putt. It is my first birdie :) Keep making the videos, I will definitely keep watching them.

Super video. I realised from watching your video that I was over rotating but, of course, I couldn't see that. I went on the range this afternoon and practised the take away and hinge as you do it and - voila - I hit the irons better than I ever have. I previously watched your video on the driver and that has dramatically improved for me. Let's not get carried away :) I am 74 and took up golf 10 months ago and am really keen to improve as quickly as possible. I have watched endless videos and got a little better but after finding your hallway and longer videos I find I can actually put your tips into practice as it is so easy and brilliantly explained. I am playing a round of golf at Montrejeau on Friday and I will think about each of your tips before every shot and I will let you know how I get on.

I didn't realise that "getting stuck" was the name for the bump in the swing you have described. Happens to me quite often and I thank you for your explanation. Should help a lot to make the swing synchronise. Best wishes. UKBob

You are the best coach ever. One of the things I learned from you is in this lesson today. It starts with: Hinging upper body forward at the waist and getting your weight over the balls of your feet...The one piece take away! is crucial....also learned while the back swing is in progress, the left knee lowers downward vs. swaying or moving to far to the right... and as you said before, with this proper start the downswing just happens and with this proper start, it happens well! because the left knee was was lowered towards the ground in the backswing, i learned to push off the ground through the down swing to get a great shot with alot of power. Thanks.

Years ago, I learned in phys therapy ( for my back ), how to engage my lower core muscles for stability. It's very specific and takes time to learn how to do. You will learn things like this in Pilates (for example). When you do this your pelvis will rotate slightly under, NOT like pushing your butt back (counterintuitive)! In any case, I went out and hit balls yesterday thinking a/b your video to make sure I am not getting stuck off of the ball. Well, when I engage my core BEFORE taking the club back, it seems to sync the core with the takeaway. I noticed a big difference in consistency! Also, a BIG difference in effort. It almost felt more effortless (if that makes any sense). My way or interpretation of your video may not be for everyone, but thought I'd post it in order to let you know that ppl like me are having success following your fundamentals.

I tend to pick it up, and although I get away with it using my shorter clubs, I do not with my longer clubs. This tendency also entices me to take away getting disconnected with my longer clubs, especially the driver. I know that I also loose power when I'm disconnected, causing me to suffer with driver distance. This instruction was helpful for me. Thank you, Carolin.

You said; ”Start the one piece takeaway, hinge wrists and then turn”. I love the simplicity. I’ve always hinged as the last move in my backswing. I’m going to give your sequence a try. Thank you very much. Don

You should never activately hinge your wrists, it's a natural reaction to a proper golf swing Anybody that says to do so hasn't got a clue what they are talking about

Well, funnily enough I once had an impromptu lesson from David Leadbetter's old coach: Terry Westbrook, who played on the European Tour from 1963 to 1973. But, really, one of the reasons why we have so much problem with the takeaway is that we have never really understood how Hogan tells us to take the club back in Five Lessons. And, one of the reasons why we don't understand what he told us is that we are only really capable of understanding mono mechanics. But, when we read between the lines it becomes quite clear that Hogan tells us to extend the extensors ("downwards rotation of the left hand"), whilst pushing back with the wrist joint and arm ("the backswing does not alter the pattern of the waggle....it is an extension of its arc"). But, of course, that is only half of the story. And, really, the key fundamental, with regard to the right arm, is one that Hogan himself never grasped, himself. But, he had exceptionally long arms; and, when a player has long arms it is very difficult for them to rotate their right elbow in towards their body, in the first part of their backswing. When a player does this it ensures that their right elbow will be pointing down at the top of their backswing. Andrea Lee is one of the best exponents of this.

Today I spent some time on the range, where there is a set up rugby posts (American football posts to you) about 100 metres away. Sometimes I got the ball to fly over the posts but not often enough. I watched your video on the importance of the target but could you please do a video on how to aim. Thank you.
