As always, the information you present is clearly explained, and the demonstrations with the different types of fibers as well as straight versus wavy are so helpful in understanding the verbal explanations! Honestly, I have learned more from you than from anyone else I've tried to watch!! I'm so completely intimidated about all of this that your kind, patient, humorous approach makes me relax and actually absorb the info without immediately panic thinking, "I can't do that!" 😕 ❤

Thanks, Amanda. I have to offer a technique I have used in the past for straight wigs. I have dipped the ends in water(no more that 2-4 seconds at a time) that has been boiled and set aside for a while. I use the same method with a fine-tooth comb before and after the dip. I continue to dip 3 or 4 times until I feel that the comb slides through easily. Fiber is then poker straight .

Can you clarify? You dip the ends in boiling water for 2-4 seconds and set the wig aside? And you dip a fine tooth comb in the boiling water before running it through the wig? I am confused LOL

Hi Amanda! Great tips, thanks!! Wanted to share something I recently tried on a synthetic, ready to throw out, very expensive wig. I had nothing to lose. It kept running through my mind that wigs are basically plastic. I got my spray bottle of Clear Dawn and spritzed it on the outside and matted parts of my dry wig. Then I rinsed my wig with the spray nozzle on my sink. It came out looking new!!

Does the wig have to be freshly washed for this to work correctly? Are there any drawbacks to this method if not freshly washed? Thinking of when I need to touch up ends on Simmer mid week and there might be some wig wax or silicone spray already on those fibers.

@@TryingToAdapt no, it doesn’t have to be freshly washed but if there is a lot of buildup from product, it might be a good idea to wash and remove it first.
