When I was in college, I worked as a delivery/counterman/grunt at a parts store. We had an old counterman (Vern) that was a hoot to work with. I remember one day some guy walked in, walked up to Vern and set a greasy part on the counter. The customer didn't say a word. Vern glanced at the part and said: Does that 1973 Valiant have air conditioning?

Old stuff like that is SO much easier to work on, and more fun! No plastic covers, vacuum lines, emissions crap, sensors, computers, etc. Inline 6s make it even easier. The good ol' days.

Back in 1990 I worked in a family parts store. Been in the family since the 1920s. They had a hard time competing with NAPA, Schucks (now Oreilly), Car Quest, Auto Zone, et al, but they stayed afloat with their machine shop, and relining ancient clutches and brake shoes, and making hydraulic hoses. The old guy retired around 1998, and shut it down. The building is still there, and last time I looked, the old parts were still on the shelves.

Our town's old guy was Al. I bought stuff from his store right up until he retired and sold off the dilapidated building and I didn't even own a car at the time! In a few weeks the big new O'Reilly's will be ready to open for business exactly where Al's Auto Parts used to be. 💫

I had a 1963 Chevy II with the 194. I always wanted to put a V8 in it, but I couldn't get that straight 6 to blow up. I would run it 'til the oil light came on and it was missing on a couple of cylinders. When I topped off the oil, it would run like new, again. Those things are indestructible.

Love that car. In 1970 My first drivable car was a 1963 Chevy II. I was lucky enough to purchase it for $1.00 for title purposes. I had to replace rear left floor. I drove it for 16 months and than sold it to my older brother for $300. He drove it to Alaska and returned 2 years later.. He longer needed it so he gave it back to Me. In 1977 it was delivered to a scrap yard. Fun car that I wish I saved.

Sensational TYVM a golden journey my 1st car. In '72 I was the 2nd owner of 1963 Chevy II. 3 on the tree. 230 or 194. Paid $250. 9 year old car at the time. Improved her with a 250 out of junkyard Impala, Hurst's cheapest floor shifter, and bucket seats from a Firebird. Jet black, red interior & dashboard, 2 door, sport hubcap covers, fresh retreaded tires. Nuthin' ever broke.

I asked a veterinarian about that cause I use to have a dog that ate grass, apparently they do it when they have an upset stomach. Supposedly they do it to induce vomiting but mine never got sick either, but he said that it meant something in their food wasn't agreeing with them so I needed to change it up. We did and aside from a brief round of gas she seemed to stop.🤷‍♂️

This video is deja vu for me. I had exactly the same model Nova as my very first car in 1971. Like yours here, it had been sitting idle for a long time and I had to do almost the exact same things that you did to get it to run. It had a clogged fuel filter on the Rochester carb and a couple of the spark plug cables were bad, but I did everything else that you did to get it running. The distributor cap was cracked on mine. It had belonged to the mother-in-law of Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, so it had Bama crap on it so I had to replace that with Auburn and my high school stuff. I still miss that car. Thanks for bringing back some good memories! 🤣

Isaac! NO! Four doors are the optimal amount of doors required for a car with a actual rear seat. I used to hate 4 door cars, but I am now old as dirt and gained some much needed wisdom. Give it a few more years and it will grok with you also. You need an Angus Scrimm mask for driving the hearse. That is obviously a Fish carburetor.

20 years ago, an old guy gave me, free, a 69 Nova SS 396. Perfectly straight, nice brown paint. No motor or trans, but it still had the 12 bolt rear, and inside the car were big block headers and a bunch of spare parts. And I had no truck. No trailer. No garage. No tools. No skills. And no ambition. So I gave it to a good friend who had all those things. I think about that once in a while 🤔😕😑.

Hello Ike. When you see a dog eating grass, let them. If they eat certain grass, they are doing it for one of two reasons. They feel a little blocked up. Eating grass gets things going. Another reason, sometimes a dog's stomach gets upset. Sometimes a dog will eat grass to get whatever is upsetting their stomach to come up. Dogs sometimes get indigestion. It helps with that too. It's an instinct that's born into a dog. As far as I know, it comes from their wolf cousins. The only time to get concerned about it is if the dog obsesses about grass. They get obsessed sometimes and they will eat too much grass. Their bowels will get loose or they will eat and throw up, but will still just keep on eating it no matter how sick it makes them. Or how many times they throw up. A little bit helps the dog's stomach and intestines. Too much can be bad.

Keep a bottle of lead substitute in the car and be sure to add some every time you fill up, the gas back then had lead in it to lubricate the valve guides and/or seats. I had no doubt that I-6 would start, it's hard to kill an I-6 engine.

I bought a 1965 nova II Wagon in the 1980s. It had power steering, powerglide 2 spd trans, 190 L-Head 6 cylinder. The biggest difference will be made to this car by putting a rear anti-sway bar and steel belted radials. I just loved that car.
