@LivingDeadbeat Most b moves with some exceptions (mostly projectiles outside of Falcon in general) are laggy and punishable. Kirby's down b for example can be grabbed (or even up smashed as Pikachu's priority is hilarious.) The only b-moves of these chars you will see at this level of play are probably pikachu's down b to kill off the top and possibly Pikachu's up b to escape combos as it has invincibility at the startup.

+joejones Revan has a better combo now though. Instead of finishing with a NAir, he finishes with UpB and spikes Pika, making that combo a potential 0-to-death. You should check out some of Revan's newer matches against Pikas.

Anthony B You don't normally see that many, but it's less about the strength of the shield and more about Kirby's shield breaker combo abilities. It also helps that Isai is basically the undisputed best player in the world, so he knows how to capitalize when he gets the chance.

Anthony B not only what Brad said, but also when you shield an attack in ssb64, you still get a bit of time b4 you can take off your shield and move. So, whenever pika got hit with his shield on he has to wait a bit b4 taking it off and moving, and since attacks can come in much faster than that. Shield breaks are possible without the other guy having a fighting chance but hard to do (being Kirby one of the easier shield breakers to do).

+Brad Knutson It's not really Kirby's shield breaker abilities. Almost every character has a shield breaker combo in Smash, and the issue is higher shield stun, meaning opponents are forced to keep shield up after absorbing a strong attack. As long as the player acts quickly enough, they can string a combo that forces shield stun to the point the shield breaks. It's similar to a 0 - Death combo, only with hitstun instead of shield stun. Hitstun/Shield stun in Smash 64 is pretty high compared to the future games.
