@michaeljvlach7388 I was wondering if you could give your view on "the everlasting covenant" in Isaiah 24. I went through Dr. Constables notes, seems like the 2 main views are 1)Noaic covenant or 2)Ademic covenant. In my Ryrie study he mentions "God's General Laws". Thanks again

I go back and forth on those two options. Not seeing an Adamic covenant but from creation man is obligated to serve the Creator.

Yes I was leaning that way too. Maybe in the future we can walk through the Biblical covenants vs the non-biblical that even some dispensationalist give credence to.

Hi Dr. Vlach! Thanks so much. I was just reading Isaiah 24-27 this past week so this is very timely! One question: regarding 25:8, isnt this “swallowing of death” something that will happen in the eternal state? Paul uses it in references to the resurrection which would have happened (for the church) by the start of the Millennium but sin and death still exist in the Millennium. I just thought it confusing to interweave this language within 24-27 which seems to be talking about the earthly kingdom.

Hi David, it's a great question! Just my thoughts if any helpful and quite happy to be corrected on this. My understanding: The first Resurrection will all be complete by and during Christ's second coming (church saints, OT saints and tribulation saints all obtain their glorified resurrected bodies and go into the millennium) There will ofcourse be believers at the time (both Jew and Gentiles) that will enter into the millennium in their fleshly earthly bodies (having survived the tribulation) Isaiah 65:17-25 passage seems to indicate that death in the millennium won't be common and be limited to gentile unbelievers only (as from Jeremiah 31:31-34 we can see that the New Covenant fulfillment will mean all Jews including those born during the millennium will believe and accept Christ) 'sinners being 100 years old shall be accursed' so they will live to be at least 100. It seems like this is a period of grace for these people to accept Christ but if not they will die and await the second Resurrection at the end of millennium (which will be judgement time for the unbelieving) So going back to Isaiah 25:8 verse and death being swallowed up would certainly be true for all believers who put their trust in Him.

The Book of Isaiah seems like it jumps from topic to topic. One minute, it's prophesying the first coming of the Messiah; the next minute, it's talking about the eternal state; the next minute, it's discussing the resurrection of the dead; the next minute, it's giving details about the Millennium; the next minute, it's speaking of the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Much like the Book of Revelation, the Book of Isaiah doesn't progress according to a strict linear chonology. Instead, it progresses digressively according to topic and theme. Needless to say, it's not easy to follow. One thing that can be said about it, though, is that the imagery Isaiah uses is easier to understand than the imagery used by John in the apocalyptic book bearing his name.
