One of my closest friends took his life a little over two years ago. Every time I would hang out with him at his house before it happened I would hear this song playing in the background and didn't really understand the impact the song had on me until after he died. Heard it again about 3 months after he died while I was tripping and it made me cry uncontrollably. Thank you for making such a beautiful and inspirational song. My goal is to one day make a song that portrays how this song made me feel.

This track makes me bawl. Seeing Isaiah have this wonderful day with his son reminds me of me growing up with my dad taking me to the OC, NJ shore. He never had much money but the money wasn't really important because to us kids being in a cool ass place was enough and just living life was enough. That's what this video reflects to me. A struggling father who is just trying to do the best for his child. It's beautiful and real.

Every time I come back to this video, I come back with a different perspective. At this point in life, I realize why parents are so attached to the memories of their children in their younger years. Because that’s when you have somebody who so pure and innocent, loves you for who you are. You have a little buddy, and they just wanna spend time with you and genuinely love you for you. As we get old, our views become shaped and molded mostly by life depending on how strong your mind is and it can only be so strong in a premature state. We begin to see things different and at times people see their parents or whatever different until they finally get old enough to appreciate them and everything they have done and do. Now that isn’t always the case, and there are other reasons parents cherish their babies younger years, but that’s just where I personally am in life so I see that in this video. You got a mini you that will always love you, so you feel like I don’t need much else in this world but my little buddy. Hence Isaiah saying “if I can pay my bills, I’m good”. If he can take care of him and his child then he’s at peace with life and has everything else he needs, life is what you make it. I’m big on purpose so of course I’ve looked at this video in other ways and will come back and see it differently, but these are my thoughts right now, on simplicity and genuine love.

Yes and finding the message in the bottom of the bottle is probably the realization that it's time to grow up instead of throwup. Then saying your son is coming up would be deciding to learn from it and become better. You wouldn't have just a dollar in your pocket if you didn't drop it on a bottle, a bag, or whatever. Pay your bills and give that cobra money to your kid. And find your happiness in that instead And yo kid would gain perspective from doing so.

I do want to say tho he makes no reference to him having a kid in the lyrics you've only gotten from the video. He says mama, could be his or his baby momma and he's says your son is coming up. He could just be talking about getting out of the perpetual nothingness that comes with growing up in the hood and not giving into the lifestyle anymore. Heaven isn't just at the bottom of the bottle and then telling his mom her son is finally coming up.

I first heard this song along with the video when it released back in 2016. It’s now 2024 & I now have two boys. Watching this vid again for the first time in awhile put me in a serious nostalgic state as I feel like its the first time i heard it again. My heart is filled with joy reflecting back to that point in time & the fact I’m still here. Time is precious man & it flies by, enjoy every moment you got. Peace & love everyone.
Used to bump this shit when I was dead broke, still struggling but holy shit has shit gotten better and man did this video help me feel better back in the day.

What I specifically like about this music video is that it wasn't shot with closed piers or anything. I love the reactions of people, adds a lot to it. Infact often I blank out the music and just watch the video in full screen, not very many music videos that'll interest you enough to do that. Well played Isaiah.

The first time I saw this video was my introduction to Isaiah Rashad and I related so hard because I was BROKE. Now I'm back after checking out his new song and it feels good to have some money from working hard on myself and look back on those rough times. Music is beautiful how it can take you to different times and places no matter where you are.

This is one of the most powerful videos I've ever seen from 2016. It gives a feeling that can't be described with anything other than 'bliss'. When you realize that you have so much more than your credit score and the numbers in your bank account or the paper and pieces of metal that clink in your pockets, there is a certain clarity that allows you to see the world and the people around you for who they really are. If only the rest of the world could experience this clarity then maybe we would know peace.

I love this video so much! I couldn't help but smile the entire time, the interaction with the child (his son?) is priceless and the fact that they have everyone's account balance over their heads shows how ridiculous it is that we place superficial worth on people based on their monetary standing. Honestly, the best joys in life cannot be bought and we could all be gone tomorrow, so why not find something to appreciate in this little time we have here now? Thank you TDE for yet another Great work of art.

I live at the shore, but I still get so much anxiety around crowds like on the boardwalk. To watch you make a music video and just not give a fuck. Enjoying time with your loved one. Nothing and no one else matters of what they think or say if they even do which they usually dont. I know a lot of times it's just me vs myself using others as ammunition to jeopardize my own good time cause of my subconscious self hate that I haven't had the courage to face yet. Love your music.

Some are broke some are wealthier than others, it doesn’t matter because we all end up in a grave regardless. What matters is the meekness, the humility, the example you set for the little ones. That’s what I got from this song. I always listened to Isaiah rashads beats, but I never actually heard a song. I like this.

Id bump this song on Saturday or Friday nights at home as we would get ready for date night talking about our future.
