Most people (not all) on the planet have better morals than the Abrahamic god. --------------------------------------------------------- *This website is designed to spread the vicious truth about the Bible. For far too long, priests and preachers have completely ignored the vicious criminal acts that the Bible promotes. The so called God of the Bible makes Osama Bin Laden look like a Boy Scout. This God, according to the Bible, is directly responsible for many mass-murders, rapes, pillage, plunder, slavery, child abuse and killing, not to mention the killing of unborn children.* I have included references to the Biblical passages, so grab your Bible and follow along. *It always amazes me how many times this God orders the killing of innocent people even after the Ten Commandments said Thou shall not kill.* For example, God kills 70,000 innocent people because David ordered a census of the people (1 Chronicles 21). God also orders the destruction of 60 cities so that the Israelites can live there. He orders the killing of all the men, women, and children of each city, and the looting of all of value (Deuteronomy 3). He orders another attack and the killing of all the living creatures of the city: men and women, young, and old, as well as oxen sheep, and asses (Joshua 6). In Judges 21 He orders the murder of all the people of Jabesh-gilead, except for the virgin girls who were taken to be forcibly raped and married. When they wanted more virgins, God told them to hide alongside the road and when they saw a girl they liked, kidnap her and forcibly rape her and make her your wife! *Just about every other page in the Old Testament has God killing somebody!* In 2 Kings 10:18-27, God orders the murder of all the worshipers of a different god in their very own church! In total God kills 371,186 people directly and orders another 1,862,265 people murdered The God of the Bible also allows slavery, including selling your own daughter as a sex slave (Exodus 21:1-11), child abuse (Judges 11:29-40 & Isaiah 13:16), and bashing babies against rocks (Hosea 13:16 & Psalms 137:9). ***This type of criminal behavior should shock any moral person.*** ***Murder, rape, pillage, plunder, slavery, and child abuse can not be justified by saying that some god says it’s OK.*** If more people would actually sit down and read the Bible there would be a lot more atheists like myself. *Jesus also promoted the idea that all men should castrate themselves to go to heaven:* For there are eunuchs, that were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are eunuchs, that were made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs, that made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it (Matthew 19:12). *I don’t know why anyone would follow the teachings of someone who literally tells all men to cut off their privates.* The God of the Bible also was a big fan of ritual human sacrifice and animal sacrifice. *And just in case you are thinking that the evil and immoral laws of the Old Testament are no longer in effect, perhaps you should read where Jesus makes it perfectly clear:* It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid (Luke 16:17). There are many more quotes on this topic at my Do Not Ignore the Old Testament web page. *If you follow the links on this site you will learn about all the nasty things in the Bible that are usually not talked about by priests and preachers.* www.evilbible.com/ Watch *"Context!!!!!!"* by NonStampCollector (A good video for believers who try to rationalise Biblical atrocities and immorality by saying "Out of context".) ------------------------------------------------------------------ In addition, look up the below articles. *"10 Biblical Atrocities That Go Overlooked (Part 1) - Real Bible Stories"* (Written by a former minister) *"10 Biblical Atrocities That Go Overlooked (Part Two) - Real Bible Stories"* (Written by a former minister) *"The 10 Worst Old Testament Verses by Dan Barker - Freedom From Religion Foundation"* (Written by a former preacher) *"Top 20 Evil Bible Stories - Religion - Nigeria"* *"God is the Source of Morality. Christian friend just told me that most of the Isaiah is about mercy and only a small part about killings. Which God had to do because they were all sinners. 😮 The same friend justifies genocide in gaza. Same as whole pentacostel church. I said to them that it's a hypocritical christianity and they stopped talking to me. And still claim that god of old testament is a loving god. He doesn't want people to sin and has to teach them a lesson

The world is absolutely evil, but then again, you can’t judge evil as an atheist because you can’t explain objectively how you map your moral compass. Why do anything moral if there isn’t a God? Surely that isn’t the right thing to do, if there isn’t anything more than this earth and there is no objective truth, then this is just a free for all, it isn’t illogical to do whatever will benefit you and only you.

I stopped believing that God was 100% good when he revealed to me that he wasn't when I questioned his behavior in the Old Testament because I knew that a being that was 100% good would not be able to do those things. I play cornhole every Sunday evening with all Christians. A couple of them are pastors, and a couple are different pastors' kids. and others. and one of the pastors' brought up Noah's Ark and the flood and asked me if I wanted to join the Bible study that he leads.. so I told him That I became basically an atheist couple years ago, after about 2000 hours of deep study trying to get closer to god and after the shock wore off I told him I just don't find the Bible reliable. and pointed to the flood he was just talking about and asked him how could the fifth and sixth sixth dynasties of pharaohs in Egypt have existed how could Sargon the great and the Akkadian Empire have existed (and several other things) if everyone died in the flood and there were only a handful of people left in the 2300s bc then I realized he had no idea on a date that Christians put on the flood, he just thinks it happened a long long time ago before any history that we have. so I told him there's tons of scholars and historians on KZbin even where you can learn about all the ancient peoples because in the last 200 years we've gained a wealth of knowledge about their flood myths, creation myths, their gods and their cultures and that's when he said the exact same thing well I'm gonna trust the Bible way before I'm gonna trust a scholar. lol Sorry for that long-winded post for that punchline, but we can't do anything if they refuse to look outside their Bible for real factual information

This was a great video. Not too long ago I had a few family members talking about how the end times were upon us because of the war in Israel. They started talking about prophecy, blah blah blah, and I thought to myself, "Aren't there other prophecies in Isaiah that didn't happen?" That part wasn't what bothered me though. What rubbed me the wrong way was how they seemed almost excited about it. The way they were talking, it was like they were in on a secret that no one else knows about, the anticipation fully on their face. My immediate thought was "If you truly think Jesus is about to come back and many people are going to die and go to hell, shouldn't you be in the streets and across the world imploring people to believe??" Of course they're not. And who the hell would be so excited by the idea of potentially millions dying and being separated from their god for eternity? Do they want to be proved right so bad? Like a "we told you so" moment? And ALL of this is based on the way they interpret that specific book. My mom actually dragged me into this conversation knowing that I don't believe any of it. It was hard to keep a straight face, mouth shut, and thoughts to myself.

Thank you so much! And before believers say, "Oh you don't understand those prophecies are allegorical. False, they are not allegories nor parables." A Parable from Greek parabolē, a “setting beside" suggests a juxtaposition that compares and contrasts this story with that idea. Allegory from Greek allos and agoreuein, an “other-speaking” suggests a more expanded use of deceptive and oblique language. So, yeah, that doesn't work either.

It died a quick death, but it had a lot going for it (Ian McShane as the King Saul character) and was pretty good as I recall. The modern era/alternate reality setting shifts it a bit, but it's in the direction of a "Game of Thrones" style take on the Old Testament. It didn't fail because it was bad, it was just an idea that there was no good audience for, or the audience it was for never found it. [edited slightly due to not trusting my memory]

I love this book and use it often esp when dealing with jebus being the messiah with xtians and it fails big time as most of us realize. My Grandma was Jewish and died when I was 3 month old and took many years to go and find out what she believed and how Judaism and xtianity compared and I wish I would of done it as a believer it would of either turned me atheist faster or became a Jew. These specific criteria are as follows: 1) He must be Jewish. (Deuteronomy 17:15, Numbers 24:17) 2) He must be a member of the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10) and a direct male descendent of both King David (I Chronicles 17:11, Psalm 89:29-38, Jeremiah 33:17, II Samuel 7:12-16) and King Solomon. (I Chronicles 22:10, II Chronicles 7:18) 3) He must gather the Jewish people from exile and return them to Israel. (Isaiah 27:12-13, Isaiah 11:12) 4) He must rebuild the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. (Micah 4:1) 5) He must bring world peace. (Isaiah 2:4, Isaiah 11:6, Micah 4:3) 6) He must influence the entire world to acknowledge and serve one G-d. (Isaiah 11:9, Isaiah 40:5, Zephaniah 3:9) All of these criteria for the Messiah are best stated in the book of Ezekiel chapter 37:24-28: "And My servant David will be a king over them, and they will all have one shepherd, and they will walk in My ordinances, and keep My statutes, and observe them, and they shall live on the land that I gave to Jacob My servant...and I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant and I will set my sanctuary in their midst forever and My dwelling place shall be with them, and I will be their G-d and they will be My people. And the nations will know that I am the Lord who sanctifies Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forever." If an individual fails to fulfill even one of these conditions, he cannot be the Messiah.” Love your take on this book thanks again Brandon!!!!

Yes, me too. I've seen too many miracles and had too many experiences that I cant explain away with pure logic not to believe. But I love seeing all the horrible flaws in the Bible and how it makes clear why we have so many cults and violence. Men reflect the God they serve. I tell people the Bible is a mirror. If you are loving you will only see the love. If you want to kill, rob people of their land and demand blind obedience, you will see that in the scripture. You will see who you are. Christians need more critical thinking. A true God can handle it!

@@andreatheherbalist I've seen miracles, too. I know that there are dimensions beyond what can be parsed by the intellect. But that doesn't equate to "the god of the bible is true and real". I once read a comment by someone who said that the planet and cosmos just seem way too huge to stuff into a human-made religion. That's pretty much where I am. There's mystery and magic we can have access to: it seems to me a lot of religion goes to cut off the direct contact, and make some authority be the one who connects us to the beautiful magic. And that's where a lot of things go awry.

I know you couldn't have possibly added everything, and that a discussion on the origin of the devil as a concept would make a great topic on it own. But I would have loved if you had mentioned Isaiah 14 and it's mistranslation and interpretation that have have lead to Christians using it as an origin story for Satan and his fall. I particularly hate this interpretation because I love the name Lucifer but I can't even hope to use it because of its negative association to the Christian devil.

I have always found it interesting that 2:6 talks about magic and bad things from the east in the book that is supposed to be prophecy about Jesus, the kid who was visited by wise men from the east. I have this marked up in my bible from when I was a believer, even, and no apologetics had ever explained that away. I can only imagine that these "wise men" if they existed were zoroastrians, buddhists, or hindus... nobody else lived east of there. And it's interesting to see zoroastrianism and hinduism kind of influence early christianity. BTW concerning your comment about the controversy about Mary being a virgin. She had to, otherwise Jesus wouldn't have been able to compete with the Hindu god of compassion and love, Krishna. Seems like Christians kind of just copied the east, doesn't it?

I would add some Anti-Gentile verses. I mean you did a video about it but since you are in the book of Isaiah I think repeating it is a good thing. Afterall Isaiah has some juicy ones in there: So let's add them here and start with two against Egypt specifically. Isaiah 19:1-4 "1The oracle concerning Egypt. Behold, Yahweh is riding on a swift cloud and is about to come to Egypt; The idols of Egypt will shake at His presence, And the heart of the Egyptians will melt within them. 2“So I will incite Egyptians against Egyptians; And they will each fight against his brother and each against his neighbor, City against city and kingdom against kingdom. 3“Then the spirit of the Egyptians will be emptied to destruction within them; And I will confuse their counsel, So that they will seek idols and ghosts of the dead And to mediums and spiritists. 4“Moreover, I will deliver the Egyptians into the hand of a cruel master, And a strong king will rule over them,” declares the Lord, Yahweh of hosts." Take notice that he will divide Egyptians against each other and confuses their counsel. Just for fun we might say: He does that today by dividing as into "left wing" and "right wing". I think such a process would be called Divide and Conquer. You may as well say it is used as a part of Subversion. Here is another one for Egypt specifically: Isaiah 45:14 "14Thus says Yahweh, “The fruit of the labor of Egypt and the profit of Ethiopia And the Sabeans, men of stature, Will come over to you and will be yours; They will walk behind you; they will come over in chains And will bow down to you; They will make supplication to you: ‘Surely, God is with you, and there is none else, No other God.’ ”" Take notice how he is promising enslavement for them and gives them the fruits of their labors. --- Next let's go a little bit more general: Isaiah 49:23 "23“Kings will be your guardians, And their princesses your nurses. They will bow down to you with their faces to the earth And lick the dust of your feet; And you will know that I am Yahweh; Those who hope in Me will not be put to shame." Here the kings of the Gentiles will lick the dust of their feet. And if the kings are more or less enslave and lick the dust of their feet then what do you think would that mean for the common people? Isaiah 60:10-12 "10“Foreigners will build up your walls, And their kings will minister to you; For in My wrath I struck you, And in My favor I have had compassion on you. 11“Your gates will be open continually; They will not be closed day or night, So that men may bring to you the wealth of the nations, With their kings led in procession. 12“For the nation and the kingdom which will not serve you will perish, And the nations will surely be laid waste." Here the Gentiles will become their labor and especially take notice at (12). What happens to the nations which will not serve? It will perish. That means you only have two choices. Become their slave or die. Peace is not an option. Take your time and think about this for a while. Isaiah 60:16 "You will also suck the milk of nations And suck the breast of kings; Then you will know that I, Yahweh, am your Savior And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob." Here again the mentioning of sucking the milk of nations which is more or less their labor and their works. Isaiah 61:5-6 "5Strangers will stand and pasture your flocks, And foreigners will be your farmers and your vinedressers. 6But you will be called the priests of Yahweh; You will be spoken of as ministers of our God. You will eat the wealth of nations, And in their glories you will boast." Here we go again. The people of the nations becoming their labor slaves. They eat the wealth of them and BOAST or revel in THEIR glory. --- Seriously it is disgusting. If he wants his chosenites not to labor and is claimed to be the Creator of all of existence then why not creating food out of nothing or something like that. You know kind of like "The Wishing-Table".

Excellent, Brandon, as always. A few personal observations and additional thoughts (I know your time was limited for the video): --Isaiah 52 regarding the uncircumcised never entering Jerusalem again is not only literally false, but doctrinally, it's completely contradicted by almost the entirety of Paul's ministry to the Gentiles and his doctrinal dispute with Peter, which did away with the practice of circumcision among Christians. --'Isaiah' was definitely talking about Cyrus, but that was deutero-Isaiah, which as you know was added later. It was less a prophecy than an exposition, written in prophetic terms, of what the author was witnessing transpire in the world in real-time. --Not sure if you mentioned it and I missed it, but Isaiah also explicitly identifies the suffering servant as the people of Israel in Isaiah 49. The servant songs have never been considered messianic prophecies by Jews (I don't think). --An interesting fact that's also worth mentioning, since we're coming up to the Christmas holiday, is that the English translation of 'he will be called wonderful counselor, mighty God' is better translated into English as something like 'wonderful counselor is the mighty El'. It was a regnal title for Hezekiah, much like 'Nebuchadrezzar' meant 'Nabu will protect his servant' and Nabonidus meant 'Nabu will be exalted' or something along those lines. --I love that the OT spins a fanciful story about God saving Jerusalem from Sennacharib while the annals of Sennacharib indicate that Hezekiah had to pay him an extensive bribe to go away. That's one of my favorite artifacts from the Assyrian period.

As you pointed out almah means young woman, but the only English translations translating almah accurately are the JPS and and NRSV( UE). The ESV, NIV, NASB, etc. translate it inaccurately on purpose to keep Matthew from being “ wrong”. Additionally, only JPS and the NRSV translate Lilith accurately in Isaiah 34:14, with the more conservative translations choosing to omit the word entirely.

Was perfectly in line with what i was taught... Man its fucking disturbing to think back on all of that....

I'm guessing that since a lot of us are still in thrall to that god, we also qualify for primitive and barbaric.

It’s crazy that people get their morality from a 2,000 year old ancient book but can’t use simple critical thinking skills 💀

even crazier: people DON'T get their morality from a 2 000 year old, ancient book. they never even try to stone a first responder on any holy day, for example. They just rant about the b00k, and cherry pick some parts of it.

Isaiah 45-7 coupled with my brothers suicide is what killed my belief. If god is claimed to never lie then claiming he created evil, I must take that at face value. If then that's to assume to be correct then then everything bad and evil that happened from the beginning to the end of time can be laid at the feet of god as his fault and free will is truly an illusion.

@@MindShift-Brandon He was a young child 4-5 years old, he was in my care being babysat for my parents, I was only 14 at the time and he got hurt, fractured his skull. He was never right since then, I never forgave myself for it. He got caught up in drinking and drugs and killed himself with a gun, over a girl. During those years I prayed to god for help for him. At that time the pastor said unfortunately your brother is burning in hell for all eternity for the evil he committed, suicides go to hell. My brother wasn't evil, he had a brain injury. He got mixed up in substances and fell in love with a girl that didn't love him back. Why would god punish him like this. I started looking up the definitions of evil in the biblical sense and came across 45-7. It made no sense to me. How could a loving god be behind the creation of evil? All logic and common sense I had in that belief screamed for me to run from it. My prayers weren't answered, not because of my belief, but because there wasn't anyone on the other side to receive them. I forget where I heard it, it may have been one of your video's. Christians say atheists are really people that are just angry with god and reject him. I'm angry because I wasted my time praying where I could have been attending to my brothers needs and helped him more. Maybe he would still be alive. Apologies for ranting on off subject. ty for listening.

I really can't wait till you get to rip the NT a new one. Much defenses of it are shrouded behind the fact the NT is somehow better because he was "more merciful" (as though that hides any of his atrocities). I was literally arguing with my mom the other day and she literally kept saying this rhetoric over and over (tbf I brought it upon myself for not researching it well enough to throw in her face but still dumb).

I'm in the same situation, so far all I come up with is the hate-filled rants of Paul (which revolted me even as a child who thought I was supposed to accept all this as holy), and the fear-inducing hallucinatory rant of Revelations. Darkmatter 2525 goes into some of this and gave me helpful insights. Looking forward to having more info.
