Are religious knowledge and secular knowledge separate entites? Is it possible to be successful in both realms? How should we view them?

Who Was The First Scientist? Ibn al-Haytham In fact, many experts recognize Ibn al-Haytham, who lived in present-day Iraq between 965 and 1039 A.D., as the first scientist. He invented the pinhole camera, discovered the laws of refraction and studied a number of natural phenomena, such as rainbows and eclipses.

Both are important. We need people choosing both based on their strength. Just like how people choose profession/earn money based on their skill. Think of secular knowledge this way, Physics is the study of the fundamental rules of nature. Rules created by Allah. It let's you appreciate his creation more. It's absolutely fascinating and everytime I get to know something new I can't help but say SubahanaAllah. Understanding the natural laws, biology, sociology etc., all of these actually increases your admiration and Iman. Also we need expert at every sect of life so that the knowledge accumulated isn't lost. So becoming expert in some secular topic also is like a charity towards your community and next generation.

And the people who are knoledgable both sides, are great asset to Islam, as they can interact with people easly no matter what they believe in. like if you want to educate a country man, the best way is to learn his language. I need more of Isa ma.

From the beginning of this era, World is about to breed the 2.Golden Age of Islam. We have everything we need, from North Africa to China and Korea, Islam has spread all over the World and as Muslims we are the youngest nation (ummah). Also, we have an advantage, we have the internet which previous generations in the 1.Golden Age of Islam don't have. We can easily access the knowledge from every subjects, so my Muslim brothers and sisters please educate yourself for the every sources of information. We need to know our religion, we need to know other religions, too. Moreoever, we need to know the history, and the basics of the natural sciences.

Yup, Islam is a perfect religion. It doesn't only regulate matters of aqeedah and worship. But it also has rules for all aspects of life. Both individually, society, and even the country. And the golden age of Islam can be realized, when the state makes Islam its government system. Conclusion, back to the Qur'an and make it as a way of life.
This is very true. I'm a Biology student and I'm grateful that Allah chooses this path for me to concentrate on this field of study so that I can always be mesmerized by the greatness of Allah. When people say that Islam and science cannot go hand in hand, it is totally wrong. Instead, to me studying science is one of the most important component of worship that could bring me closer to Allah, and yes Allah makes it easier for me to understand His knowledge and to succeed in this field. Alhamdulillah.

I don't know about other parts of the world but in Indian subcontinent until 1857 there was no separate education of religious and secular studies. Educational institutions (madrasahs) were for all sort of knowledge. After British invasion, they needed clerks to help them carry out govt functions and hence established schools that taught English language and secular subjects only. Since graduates from these secular schools only were considered for a govt job, that created a boundry between knowledge for job and not for job. That's how two separate routes of learning got created.

Maybe from the term "secular", it means worldly. But when it becomes an idea, "Secularism", it means seperating religion from the rest of the world. So, when we choose only religion (embracing ibadah part only and avoiding science, politics, etc), at the same time we are secular too. So i think, science basically is a part of Islam or religion as well, if it can lead us to imaan. And then it became like this : Islamic ideolody (islam as a whole/kaffah) VS secular ideology (separation of religion and world).
