Hello. I know you mentioned it in one of your videos, but I can't find it anymore. Would you mind telling what type of tape you use? Thank you so much, and thank you for these first class swatching videos.

That description is heartmeltingly beautiful! Thank you! Happy to share the info. The name of the tape is Nichiban #251 (I believe it's been renamed to 210 but the packaging still reflects 251). It comes in various sizes and for my swatches, I particularly enjoy the 9mm size. I would love to use something smaller but I haven't found them yet. One thing to note is that this tape works wonderfully if you're using high quality 100% cotton watercolor paper such as Arches, Saunders Waterford, Hahnemühle, Sennelier, Winsor and Newton Professional or anything in that range that is 300GSM (and heavier). I use these on both 300GSM and 640GSM 100% cotton watercolor paper. The tape behaves differently, mostly unfavorably, when used on cellulose paper. I have gone through so many tapes, experimented and explored, and this tape from Nichiban wins this game. With right paper and good amount of pressure, the tape adheres nicely and tightly but offers a clean, non-abrasive release. It is absolutely refreshing to find a tape that works perfectly. This is a genuine experience and I am not sponsored or paid to say this.

This brand, for whatever reason, has never really grabbed my attention; however, they are so vibrant and lovely in this video, who knows, maybe someday I'll give a few colors a go. Great video Stivi. 🙂

So kind, thank you! The experience is reminiscent of Sennelier paints, the ones that you have. Smooth and rich. I love the pigment delivery of the few Isaro ones that I have (I don't have a lot). Isaro's strength is in their mono-pigmented watercolors. Their Siennas and classic Blues (cobalt, prussian, etc) are my favorite ones from them.

It is captivatingly beautiful! The mass tone doesn't really reveal its beauty. It goes through a slow, dramatic release of beauty as it gets activated with water. Definitely charming and before you realize it, you're in love with it already. 🥰

I wasn't at all familiar with PY129. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I would imagine it would make some fantastic greens if you mix it with prussian blue or indanthrone blue.

Oh, that's terrific that you found this video useful! You are right. When mixed with PB27 (Prussian Blue), PB60 (Indanthrene Blue), and other blue pigments, the greens that come out are amazingly beautiful! It is also lovely for sunsets or a soft cast of sunlight on treetops or mountainside. You will love my PY129-focused video that I will publish soon then! It's already lined up. If they had bigger tubes, I’d be more willing to buy them. I’d buy the Payne’s Grey. I’ve never really wanted to buy a convenience black like that, but it’s so pretty. I also liked your cadmium red+phthalo blue mix.😩🤤 Would you recommend buying phthalo blue from this company or do they think there is a slightly better one?🙂
@stiviwonders
@stiviwonders Жыл бұрын
It seems to be the general sentiment but maybe that's for the global community that's buying from Jackson's Art. Isaro's website offers larger tubes, the 20ml ones. If it helps, here's the link to Isaro's company website, www.isaro.be/shop/gb/ Phthalo Blue is up to preference, I guess? Isaro's is an elegant one. Michael Harding's, Sennelier's and Daniel Smith's are great choices too. The Cadmium Red Deep + Phthalo Blue is truly delightful! If I play with proportions, it can be lightened or intensified and the results are lovely to work with. I rarely use Phthalo Blues so it is always a great experience whenever an opportunity to play with them comes up. Thank you for watching!

@@stiviwonders Thank you so much! So far I’ve only tried QORs (in pro brands) and I loved it, but since its particle size is small and aquazol disperses, it’s a bit hard to control. Otherwise, I use grumbacher academy or cotman (💀 ik). I want one that has vibrant color but isn’t thick or disperses too much. Holbein seems okay, but it’s expensive here in the States. (And they took it off of Jackson’s)

@@keepyourshoesathedoor Michael Harding or Daniel Smith would make great options then. They're vibrant and really retain their color strength. If your local art supply shop doesn't offer these, sometimes Blick online has good prices on these brands. Way better than their retail stores. Blick's online store also has good prices on Holbein compared to other places plus free shipping on orders over $59, I believe. Another store that offers good prices on Holbein is in New York and they also ship nationwide. Here is their Holbein page and they didn't sponsor me to say/share this. I discovered them a while back when I needed some Michael Harding products. www.fineartstore.com/p-12962-holbein-artists-watercolor.aspx I hope this reply is helpful! 🥰

Does this come in a set or did you just pick these colors because they are really pretty. Would you purchase this over M Graham

Thank you! I chose these colors myself. For these specific paints, the pigment performance of Isaro Watercolors is top-notch so I naturally gravitate towards that fact. My experience with M. Graham, with regards to the pigments featured, is limited to make a fair comparison. But I heard they have wonderful paints too. I have some of them and they'll appear in my upcoming videos. Hope this reply is helpful and thank you for watching!

@@stiviwonders I'll start using your affiliate links to buy my colors because it doesn't count if I use my own so I've been trying to help out my fellow KZbinrs by using their links. Here's what just came in. Did you try these by M graham? They are so pretty and I mixed a beautiful blue violet from cobalt teal that I think you would really like. It was pretty easy. Start with the purple and add the teal very slowly. kzbin.info4kNgBtOQ1m4?feature=share
