All of these colors are gorgeous. I am currently building my collection of my Daniel Smith paints and will surely add a couple of these Quinacridone colors this month. Ty for this video. ❤️

Yes, it is possible! Currently, I am enjoying mixing it with PB60, PB29, and PB28 for the current projects that I am working on. I will take note of your request and post some samples on the Community page once they're ready. Thank you for being here and I hope this reply is helpful!

I have never seen genuine manganese blue swatched out. Thanks for sharing Stivi, this color is wonderful! It has a bit more green undertone than I would have expected. I use Daniel Smith's manganese blue hue, which is a PB 15 preparation, that is pretty close in hue, but it has less green undertone and its granulation is a little softer. Its interesting to compare the two.
@williammcgrady507810 күн бұрын
Wow thats fabulous! Ever so slightly and subtly warm of primar red I think? I like that in a dilute wash it isn't quite a pink unlike with cool reds. That makes you stop and look at it a second longer.

Schmincke is the most beautiful I think The wallace seymor and lutea are great but too much on the pink side for a chochineal colour (in my Imagination 😅😂)

Fantastic! It's such a daunting task to choose one so I am glad that you found the Cochineal that resonated with your needs/preferences the most. For me, they're all beautiful that they could inspire a floral garden painting. Thank you for watching!

@@stiviwonders dificult to choose but I like the Kremer which has that magenta creeping into the heavier application area, though the della magna is lovely too and a little warmer in lighter tint. (Schminke seems very close to the Kremer, I wonder if they use the Kremer pigment?).

Thank you! I love the solid performance of Della Magna too! Please allow me to indulge. I prefer to use “presentation” rather than comparison. The latter forms or encourages division, the former inspires appreciation. As the video suggests, the selection is akin to a garden of flowers. 🌸

Thank you for your videos, it is so relaxing to watch them. I prefer the red tones to the magenta ones. I've got DellaMagna's, but I rarely use it, being so expensive, I don't want to run out of it. But it is a gorgeous color.
@stiviwonders22 күн бұрын
You're welcome! It is heartwarming to know that you found the videos relaxing. I agree that Della Magna's Cochineal is a gorgeous color. For the quality and pigment excellence that Della Magna offers, I would say we're receiving the best value. It's not expensive if we set the perspective in that sense. Thank you for being here and for sharing your color experiences!

I have cochineal in my garden, the little critters can be a pest hahahaham, they are kinda cute, snow white and fluffy, but, the moment they get wet... its like the cacti is bleeding so dramatic! hahaha, sadly, the cacti they chose to live, the nopal, its edible, the fruit is sweet and soft like watermelon and the cacti itself its delicious, so, time to time I need to take the hose and wash it out before they ruin the plant :( the magenta hue is more like the ones on my garden

Cochineal NR4 is always my favourite because of it's radiance glow 😍 I never paid attention to the magentas version though, but here now I can see that it's also have that 'glow', more special than basic magenta 💜 Thank you for swatching it for us, it's hard for me to get all of the products, but now I can see all of their beauty 😍😍😍

In a way, yes. Michael Harding's Quinacridone Gold is actually a combination of PY150 and PR209.
@ShannonShanks-il8ip10 күн бұрын
Most brands "quin gold" has PY150 in it. It's a very distinct pigment that you can really tell it's in a mix.
@janelbiang173329 күн бұрын
Why has production of the pigment ceased? Also do you know where we can purchase just the pigment?

I can see why. Same PY150 pigment but it is worth mentioning that this one from Michael Harding Watercolours seems to have more depth or richer value. Both are beautiful, I have to say. :)

Thanks Stivi, it's amazing what an odd colour PY150 is straight from the tube and how glowing a yellow it is once diluted.
@stiviwonders29 күн бұрын
I agree! The tonal range is incredible. This is perhaps the most dynamic performer when it comes to PY150. It is uniquely bright without being blindingly so and warm without being searing. Thank you for being here!
