This is exactly what happened to me about 20 years ago. I had an 18 hour back surgery on the Wilson frame and woke up totally blind and have been since then they said my optic nerves are dead. Thank you for a perfect explanation. Now if they're only was a cure.

I was just diagnosed with this. I woke up one day and noticed half of my vision gone in the left eye. It's the upper half. It's not blurry, it's just like a grey cloud. It's awful. I have been told that the damage is permanent. They do not know what happened but thought that sleep apnea could have caused it. My MRI came back clean.

synthartist69 I have had this in my right eye, loosing 3/4 of my vision, it has now affected the left in 12 months on, my MRI came back all clear too, it's scary stuff

@@sumitjasani4660 sleep apnea most likely... the only other possibility is that a tiny piece of artery plaque broke loose and blocked blood flow to the optical nerve. So either lack of oxygen or lack of blood flow.

what are the chances of improvement of vision ? I am a 32 years old . One retina specialist told me your vision will completely come back within 2 and half years. I have optic toxic nuropathy. After one year my eye sight is improved a lot .

I guess your body can clear out toxins. The Nerve Doctors here on youtube talk about reversing peripheral neuropathy, so maybe their advice can help anyone with the optic neuropathy.

The tissue in men is less elastic than the tissue in women, which means the mechanisms that elevate pressure will more easily do so in men than in women. Female tissue gives less resistance to blood flow since it's more malleable. Estrogen increases tissue elasticity.

I'm desperately trying to find out what's wrong with myvision. I had sudden high blood pressure for maybe 3 months. And now I have a red and yellow 'flower' in my vision that is growing large every few hours and causing bright colorful fog to dominate my sight, bright as a neon sign. I can barely sleep at night, because its all I see, laying in bed, staring at neon light in my eye. My eye doctor has told me nothing, he said my BP normalizing should cause recovering, but it's been 2 weeks and I've felt no improvement. I'm being tortured.

@@deadrabeats4259 Nope. It hasn't gotten better. I just exercise all day and listen to podcasts and YT videos to try to take my mind off of it all. It is hard, and sucks, and no one in the medical field around me gives a shit.

for some with history of vision loss due to ischemic optical neuropathy? If it starts happening in the good eye, they go to ER and what should the immediate treatment be? Should they immediately be put them on blood thinners? It’s been 5years and hasn’t happened yet (they say 1 in 5 chance it will happen to the other eye within 5 years). Very Worried. Any help would be appreciated.
