ISDT BC-8S Lithium Battery Checker Review

This is a review of ISDT battery checker / tester for lithium batteries (up to 8 cells) equipped with JST XH 2.54 balance connector.

I wonder why the name of this device at the booting time is BG-8S II?!

Probably the same reason why it says "Battey type" in the menus. :)

That's misspelled phrase but firmware name could be a leftover from different marketing approach

I bought one of these and found it reads on cell about .05 too high. Really frustrating. On a fully charged pack one cell reads 4.25V. I checked it against a Fluke DVM as well as other battery checkers I have, and for sure, this thing is defective.

I just double checked the readings on a few 1s and 4s batteries and compared to my UNI-T UT136B the ISDT checker shows 0.01/0.02V lower than the multimeter. Compared to a cheap voltage tester with no buzzer the results are virtually identical. Compared to the cheap tester with a buzzer the readings are also 0.01/0.02V lower (similar to the multimeter). This is pretty much in line with the results I got when working on the review. Unfortunately I don't have professionally calibrated equipment so can't be 100% sure if this is accurate or not. It is good enough for me as I have been using this multimeter for a while. And because the readings are quite close across all the devices I assumed they were withing measuring error. Also, when taking measurements please make sure you wait a few seconds before unplugging the battery from the tester as the voltage settles after a while.

czajunia pawulonik I'm sure yours is fine. Mine is going in the trash unfortunately because I got no response from isdt or banggood on the matter, and it's useless if it can't be calibrated. Too bad, it's a nice device otherwise.

:( I am really sorry to hear that. Hopefully BG will get back to you on this. They will most likely ask you to make a video to show the problem. Not sure about ISDT replying to you though as someone at RCGroups forum was complaining about not getting response from ISDT regarding a faulty charger.

I am not sure if you are referring to the voltage comparison in the video. If you do I thought I should mention that my multimeter has not been professionally calibrated. UNI-T multimeters are of decent quality but still, mine is not a professional piece of equipment.
