it's tough being an isfp. with such deep feelings, it doesn't take much to affect me in a strong way. not wanting to impose on others, sometimes i feel like the world is trying to crush me. as in introvert, i tend to keep these issues to myself. i lack allies. it makes me uneasy.... then it makes me mad and i harden myself up, taking encouragement from the istp. i'm on the border anyways, but i go with my feelings.... or rather, my feelings take me. i feel like a passenger in my own mind.

I know exactly how you feel! There's a proverb that says "Knowledge increases grief." It's true. The opposite is "ignorance is bliss". It's like we have a deeper knowledge of the world around us because we aren't shallow people. I hate to see animals or even bugs mistreated. They are creatures too and they deserve to live. Just this morning, I rolled out my garbage cans to the curb avoiding all the earthworms on the driveway that came out in the night in the rain.

I personally love being an ISFP, but it wasn't always easy. I was considered weird because of how reserved i am. I rarely speak and my thoughts really do run deep. i rarely talk about my own problems, i just listen to others. i wish it was easier for me to communicate my thoughts and feelings, but like the guy said i like to keep my words short. when someone says something i just reply with "MM" "OK" "AH" it is very easy for me to "get into people's heads" idk why, it's just easy for me to empathize with people and understand what they're feeling (main reason why i cry during sad movies) I often don't understand how people can be so judgmental sometimes. My friend likes to vent to me about her problems. i usually give pretty good advice because of what i said before. she says i'm a good listener and easy to talk to (only when i'm interested in the conversation) like some other people said, i also have a go with the flow attitude. it mainly shows at school. my teachers liked me because of it. also because i keep my mouth shut. commitment SUCKS if is sign up for something, i know for a fact that i'm not going to be interested in the future. mainly why i don't sign up for talents shows or anything like that. man i wish late middle school - high school wasn't all about "WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO IN THE FUTURE" IDFK only the future knows. hahaha sorry about my rant, i'm just happy there are others like me.

Your not alone, about 10% of the population is isfp. Me included, the commitment issue isn't really that bad for me since I was raised to always commit to everything you do and give it your all. The biggest problem for me is opening up about my emotions, I have severe trust issues and I find it hard to open up. I bottle up my emotions and suppress my feelings because I don't want to be a burden to others.

As an ISFP i'm glad to find out that how I am naturally doesn't necessarily mean i am wrong. For far to long i have been trying to confine myself into societies boxs, restricted by schedules and mundane jobs, as a consequence my mental health has suffered a lot from it. I am going to try and start focusing on my strengths and learn how to work with myself rather than against it. I think everyone needs to start working with themselves rather than trying to conform to the rules. It's a scary thing though as i'm terrifyed of critism, thats going to be my biggest hurdle to over come and i hope that i am able to.

I'm an ISFP strong in all 4 categories. I'm very live and let live, but does not mean I don't have a backbone. There are several things that really make me angry, like arrogant/conceited people and bullies. I absolutely HATE it when people are treated as nothing because they aren't rich, aren't a member of a certain social club, or don't dress well! I'm much more comfortable around people whom arrogant folk would consider "lowly". All human beings are on level ground as far as I'm concerned and all deserve a modicum of respect just because they are human beings, regardless or social status. I completely agree. I don't like confrontation but when it is necessary I dont hold back on my opinions or beliefs. I personally don't care about a lot of other things my family and friends do (conservative Christian btw). I don't care if your gay, lesbian, straight, bi, trans, or non-binary. Do I disagree with you yes, but I won't make it a problem because it's your life and not mine. One of my best friends is lesbian (I'm a guy) and we've never had any problems. But what I do have a problem with is people who walk on others and treat others poorly, there is no faster way to piss me off than to act like you own the world and everyone is beneath you. I believe that everyone deserves forgiveness and a second chance, but I also believe that people should be responsible for their actions and accept the consequences. These are just some of my beliefs and I would love to jave a conversation with people who have a different POV.

@@kevinwinkler5037 You don't change type. You are born with a specific stack of cognitive functions, and just learn to handle the ones you are not good at better with age. Fx, I am an INFJ, and my best function is Introverted Intuition, with my least favourite being Extraverted Sensing (or "Se" in official terms). I used to suck at Ext. Sensing, but with time I've gotten better, and I now can seem a bit more like an ISFP, who is naturally good at Ext. Sensing. But I am still an INFJ, and I still prefer Int. Intuition by far! My full stack is Ni + Fe + Ti + Se in that specific order. Notice that I have both N and S, as well as both F and T. Everybody has all of the letters, but we prefer some to others, and initially suck at some. When we learn to work with them all is when we reach our greatest potential.

Aha I'm an INFP and my mom is an ISFP. Our ideals and ideas crash A LOT, but generally, I know where she's coming from, so I respect her ideals and love her the way she is. Though sometimes when I'm going through something emotional, it's really frustrating due to her simple way of viewing the world makes it hard to let her understand me. It's really hard to explain my thoughts and emotions out loud, but that's how I need to confront her because she's, frankly, a very simple minded person(which in some way, is really a good thing) and it's important to be verbal of my feelings with her if she needs to understand. Which is why sometimes I just give up in opening up to her. Though her caring and thoughtfulness is really invaluable.

I don't know about the "live and let live" thing. I mean, I'm probably either an ISFP or INFP, ISFP more likely, and for me, there are some ethics and values that if crossed, I might get upset and argumentative. I would let slide things that don't impact my life or other people's lives, but if it tramples on others, I'll take a stand... For example, I'm all for smoking bans inside buildings and was happy when it happened because it affects not only the smoker but others too. I also am very concerned about pollution an the damage we do to the environment because it affects not only us now and future generations but also animals and plants... Other living beings. So my outlook on "live and let live" is only on things that are personal choices that don't negatively affect others. For instance, I don't personally like polygamy but if a group of consenting adults engage in it, they're being cautious and they're not hurting anyone, then who am I to tell them what to do? I have much bigger concerns than to worry about such trivial things, like climate change, which endangers a lot of species including our own. I wish humanity would be united in things like human rights and climate change, but not care so much about individual choices like gay marriage, how we look or how much money we make, as many who are the most helpful/contributing to society are often not earning a lot. That would be my ideal society (along with some other ideas but it's not important to discuss for this).

As an INTP, ISFPs do occasionally bother me, in no small part because our cognitive functions are literally polar opposites of one another. INTPs lead with introverted thinking, ISFPs lead with introverted feeling. For example, whenever an ISFP starts talking about some kind of philosophical conundrum, I find they often neglect nuance and oversimplify things. On the other hand, when talking about ethics or something with an ISFP, I'm sure I come off as wishy-washy or unable to commit to a position because the sometimes admittedly obtuse set of qualifications I add to any subject like that. With that said, I generally do get along with ISFPs decently, because as the video states, they have a live-and-let-live attitude (one that INTPs typically share) and they're very sensitive, caring souls. The hardest part for friendships with ISFPs for me isn't even their personalities - it's finding common interests. INTPs and ISFPs often have very disparate interests and so finding commonality is sometimes difficult, but once we do, we hit it off quite well. ISFPs also have a rather irreverent, off-beat style of humor that I like; I have an ISFP friend and we often bond over our use of sarcasm or just semi-silliness in general. I have no idea why I was compelled to write that, but there you have it - my two cents on ISFPs as an INTP.

I'm an INTP as well and I've got an ISFP friend. We both have that ''go with the flow'' thing going on, this is true. But he's way too emotional for me, views everything through his emotions, is really interested in art, music, feminism, society.. etc And even though I'm interested in these things, I'd rather talk about ideas, science, physics, space, relativity.. etc I believe it's my Fe kicking in, but I always find my self talking about what he likes and listening to everything he says. Let me say, he's not a really bright person, but he's emotionally really smart, he feels the art, and likes to express himself through music. He always talks about the unfairness in this world and wishes for a better world, he's against the law and would rather not conform. As an INTP I think, NT types would suit my interests better, but I find myself enjoying his company.

INFJ here! Recently met someone who I think is an ISFP and dayuum. My first interaction with him blew him away to his own shell. I really liked him because I get to learn how to use my Se more. But what made him run away from me was my judgemental first impression towards him (which he didn't like). Part of my values is that I have to tell my truth with no filter. I may seem judgemental, but it doesn't mean that my first impression would be my final impression of him because I value humans and their growth. I used to hate being blunt but now I learned that I have to do that or else I'll end up internally rotting if I don't express myself. I thought that I was doing him a favor for being truly honest. But now I have to carefully sift through my words for the sake of respecting his values.

I get along really well with INFJs as well! I do believe there is a lot of compatibility between our two types. My husband is an INFJ, and so is one of my longtime best friend. I also have a recently-made friend overseas who is an INFJ, and our connection is already so deep that we feel like we've known one another forever. Between our two types, there are just enough differences to keep things interesting and balanced, but an abundance of similarities to connect over. I believe that being around so many INFJs has helped me develop my Ni, and my Fi really admires the way they use their Fe. The occasional Ti-outburst can intimidate me a little (because it's 8th in rank for the ISFP!), but they usually soften it so well with their pro Ni and skilled Fe that it's never as scary as when it comes from an ISTP, haha! In fact, in most scenarios, they way an INFJ uses Ti is more amusing than anything else, to me! That unexpected quippy humor, so spicy! And they often make me feel really good about my Se expression. I'm an ISFP. I wish I wasn't. Throughout today i kept retaking the test because 'I wanted to make sure it was right' when deep inside I knew it was and I was just looking for an excuse to not be an ISFP. I look to be depressed as I'v heard from many people that 'you look so sad' or 'are you ok?' and the best one 'why are you always depressed?' ( LIKE HOW THE FU** would they know. They haven't even seen me or known me for a long time, pathetic fakes) My mood can change quick. Like I would be bubbly and social and very well HAPPY then someone would crack a word or a sentence and I change like Hulk. I'v never had a best friend I only have some close. And I'm familiar with karma quite well. I'v been betrayed,rejected,emotionally abused and felt lonely. The list could go on. I just hate this insecure little thing I'v become. I could feel great sometimes and my self esteem would be through the roof then I'd feel like the world is killing me slowly. I have no siblings and my parents divorced and I don't like my father to well either. I find people to be annoying little fakes trying to impress others around them by doing things out of character just to fit in. I hate having to do the SAME THING EVERYDAY AND REPETITION OVER AND OVER tortures me. What can I say I was born with the most depressed personality. Lighten up yh. I always thought I was between INFP and INTP - but neither fit me completely! I didn’t think it explained my personality! But this small summary is so on point! It described me perfectly! It really goes hand in hand with my personality. Although I view MBTI as merely something fun to shed light upon one’s inner thoughts, it can be fun to explore it a bit. I'm an ISFJ and I can't say I have any close friends who are ISFPs but I know of people who are. I feel that the ISFPs I do know are just unbelievably kind and forgiving people. I know of some people who I've played sports with and when they're playing, they're really competitive and aggressive. But then when the competition is over, they are so gentle and kind. They are really cool. :)

sleepzzz29 It can be, yes, especially if your Ni (look up cognitive functions) is well developed :) My Sensing is very balanced and I'm an open person so tests think I'm ISFJ but I am definitely ISFP.

sleepzzz29 Yes, tests are just going by your outward behaviour + some stereotypes. I find tests often use questions like, "are you imaginative or practical?" to test for N/S. This isn't an accurate question since it's more stereotypical than realistic.

Been typed as ENFP and INFP all the time before I might think I have some things in common with ISFPs, like many things in common. Basically really much of the examples shown in the video fits me perfectly. Those tests are bogus. Frank James recently made a video showing how easy it is to get it 'wrong'. If you want to know more about cognitive functions and finding out your type, you should watch videos made by Alexis Kingsley, CS Joseph or Love Who. They are really good at explaining the cognitive functions, the types itself and the healthy and unhealthy versions of each type. This video for instance, is a really nice boost for your ego, but it is not 100% accurate.

Its not my personality as a whole only a small aspect and very surface level-I am introverted but obviously not every introvert is the same its an idea of a trait people develop or have. Its not an ego boost? Maybe im confused on what you mean the creator of this video wouldnt start talking really nasty about people who got this type and just wanted to learn more. I do not relate to everything but some people might. Its obviously not accurate but its the most well known "personality test " because it is simple to understand with no middle ground you seen- You are introverted or extroverted no inbetween, feeling or thinking and so on. People like that because it quickly gives them answers or a group to identify with. If you want another test the only other one im aware of is eysenk's personality test which I am an introverted neurotic (melancholic)- thanks year 10 psychology for that. Growth and fixed mindsets, locus of control kinda seemed linked to personality aswell but really no tests are 100% accurate or can explain everything.

Hey there, I'm an INFJ (and I'm fairly certain by now it isn't INTJ/INFP, and I'm not energetic enough around people to consider myself an ENFJ) This personality type has fascinated me for the past few years. There's this friend I confessed to (online, through text), maybe about a month ago, who I suspect is an ISFP. We'd play games together on occasion and hit it off really well. Then, we were randomly talking about pies, how she didn't like pies, how I asked what she did like, and her spontaneously saying "I like YOU"... now, this could be interpreted as a sign of friendship, so I wanted to make sure. I dropped a confession on her, very specifically adding "[...] I want to be as inviting/friendly as possible, so if you're too worried to tell me about any concerns you might have, I'd love if we could talk that kind of stuff out together too... I think communication is important, and I want to make you as happy+comfortable as I can (even as a friend, if not a relationship)" As you might have guessed, this didn't go very well: I haven't heard back from them for almost an entire month, and now it seems like they're trying to avoid me too. Now, the question I have is... do I move on, or get back in touch with them? Am I a jerk for expecting more from them, to force them to open up to me like that and break even our friendship? What if they did like me, and I'm only hurting them by giving them the cold shoulder? What if they didn't actually like me, and now I've scared them off: maybe I shouldn't touch the situation and make it any worse than it already is. Was I not supposed to confess at all? If I didn't confess, wouldn't that put our relationship at a standstill and not get anywhere? I don't expect many answers, but any input would be appreciated. I'm mentally prepared to move on, but I wonder if I'd be doing the right thing by doing so. (It kinda makes me wonder how much different an ENFJ would handle a situation like this.)

My classmate in highschool was ISFP who likes to draw anime shit and manga and read stuffs. When some of our classmate messed up her artwork (bumped into her arms) while drawing, I remembered she teared up and cry with all of her efforts in drawing Hatsune Miku. I think that you should tell him how you feel, sit down with him and tell him: “you’re a great person and I think that I like you but if you don’t that’s ok.” I think that is a way to tell ur feelings to him subtly and not just forcing it on him. I'm doing this topic in class right now. I'm an ISFP, but their is another dimension to the results or Shadow Self. ISFP have a shadow of entj those are the tendencies that may come out. I feel easy going , but when called upon I can become the entj . for me it's having a messy room getting so bad, that I have to finally clean it to feel sane. It can also be the qualities that can be underdeveloped, because it isn't used as much as your true self. It's like writing with your writing hand and then writing in you opposite hand. Then in our class out instructor broke it down into leadership types, so ISFP would be an SP type of leader, we like to negotiate, detail oriented (not the big picture), likes to avoid paperwork. I find this fascinating. Thanks for ruining Adam, I felt something was off and oversimplified about it.
