But as an Urdu speaking Pakistani (my grandparents migrated from India and my mother tongue is Gujarati), Urdu truly belongs to India. It originated in Hindustan the then Delhi, Lucknow, etc., and not in Islamabad or Lahore or Peshawar!!! Infact more Urdu books are published in India then it’s in Pakistan. Some wise crack decided to make Urdu Pakistan’s official language but Urdu is spoken relatively only in big cities….
