Such music is made to be eternal. I'm a native Arabic speaker but if there were only one language spoken in paradise, I'll vote for urdu. I hope I'll be able to learn it and enjoy Urdu poetry, I'm sure the meaning is beyond paradisiac in its original form.

Right then. Right then. ALRIGHT THEN! Mithaas....gudd wali. Ghazals. The form was vanishing and then the form met Ali Sethi. Thank you for this. Please don’t stop what you are doing Ali. What a marvellous instrument choice and what an efficient delivery. The pain subsides, the joy explodes and the heart is at peace. That is the beauty of Ghazals and that is the beauty of Ali Sethi. Firaq Gorakhpuri said - Ghazal ka saaz uthao, badi udaas hai raat. Ali Sethi said - I am on it. History being made. Thank you for making us all a part of this. I declare 2020 the year of Ali Sethi. It's a long post but worth it. Khabar-e-tahayyur-e-ishq sunn, na junoon raha na pari rahi Na toh tu raha na toh mein raha, jo rahi so be-khabari rahi On learning the amazing saga of love, neither the frenzy (junoon) was left, nor did the sweetheart (pari) remain. I was ‘me’ no more, you were ‘thee’ no more; only a state of oblivion remained. This she'r reminds me of the lines from Rumi: I always thought that I was me - but no,I was you and never knew it. The consciousness of self is obstructive and it is only the removal of 'knowledge' and 'thought' (Rumi has used the words ‘thought’ and ‘knew’) that leads to the state of self-unconsciousness where the lover and the beloved become one. Shah-e-bekhudi ne ataa kia, mujhay ab libas-e-barahanagi Na khirad ki bakhiyagari rahi, na junoon ki pardadari rahi The gift of the ‘Lord of Ecstasy’ to me was a garb of nakedness. All that the wisdom had stitched was gone; the veil of madness no longer remained. At the spiritual level the couplet can be interpreted like this: My beloved, the shah-e-bekhudi has ripped naked my heart and soul, ridding them of the layers of stitching by the misguided intellect, which is nothing more than a veil of madness. The extreme of love endows the heart with divine purity. Reason and intellect have been viewed as hindrances, and the perceived sanity as madness. Chali simt-e-ghaib se aik hava, ke chaman zahoor ka jal gaya Magar aik shakh-e-nihal-e-gham, jise dil kahe so hari rahi A sweeping wind, which came from beyond the visible world, consumed the visible garden with fire; just one branch on the tree of grief, which they call heart, despite the blaze retained its green. The reference here is to the lost Paradise, and the perennial quest to re-unite with it. The Divine breeze would burn the worldly existence leaving behind the hope for reunion. The worldly existence (chaman) has been likened to a tree of sorrow and suffering, and the Divine breeze as the liberator. Nothing grows on that tree except sadness, caused by the separation from his beloved. Now that entire existence is gone, only the abode of the beloved (heart) has survived. Nazar-e-taghaful-e-yaar ka, gila kis zuban se bayan karoon Ke sharab-e-sad-qadaah aarzu, khum-e-dil mein thi so bhari rahi I am speechless to complain about the indifferent and uncaring glances (nazar-e-taghaful-e-yaar) of my beloved; the wine of desire that filled the heart remained suppressed, concealed. At the temporal level, these lines would simply suggest that there is a heart overflowing with desires which one is unable to express due to the indifferent looks of the beloved. At the metaphysical level it would suggest that the worldly desires are often out of sync with the Divine commandments. Woh ajab ghari thi mein jis ghari, liya dars nuskha-e-ishq ka Ke kitab aql ki taaq main, jyun dhari thi tyun hi dhari rahi It was at a moment strange that I read a book of love; the book of reason, brushed aside, remained shelved and sheathed. Reason (aql-o-khirad), the product of mind is considered a detriment, hindering the spontaneity of heart. A person guided by logic and reason is too calculative to be able to devote to pure love; whereas selfless love is motivated by heart and not mind. For that reason love and brain are just incompatible. Mind is deceitful, untrustworthy, selfish and devious whereas heart is pure, untainted and selfless. As Iqbal said: bekhatar kuud para aatishe-namrood mein ishq/aql thi mehvi-tamasha-e-lab-baam abhi Tere josh-e-hairat-e-husn ka, asar iss qadar so yahan hua Ke na aayine main jila rahi, na pari kuun jalva gari rahi Your bewitching beauty, love, such a spell did cast; the mirror stood bereft of gloss and beauty seemed to freeze. Bewildered by your beauty (Josh-e-hairat-e-husn), I had such a mark on my heart (yahan is a pointer towards the heart) that the heart (aayina , the mirror of heart) has lost all its shine (the basic quality of a mirror) and angel (pari is used as simile to refer profound beauty) had no beauty left to reveal (‘kuun’means ko). Kiya khak aatish-e-ishq ne dil-e-benava-e-Siraj ko Na khatar raha na hazar raha, magar aik be-khatari rahi The fire of love reduced to ashes Siraj’s voiceless heart; fears and cares got consumed, intrepid courage held the field. The fire of love (aatish-e-ishq) has burnt the voiceless heart (dil-e-benava) of Siraj to ashes. The heart is so liberated from fears (be-khatari) that there is no feeling of vulnerability or threat left. (As Iqbal has used the word bekhatar: bekhatar kood para aatish-e-namrood mein ishq).

Ali Sethi is beyond perfect but let's take a moment to appreciate the amount of love and passion Noah Georgeson has put in. Each and every instrument speaks for itself. I feel so blessed to co-exist in this era with such amazing artists. Someone once said "Shayari apna sangeet saath lekar aati hai." and I felt that in the line "Chali samt-E-Ghaib se ek hawa." No other composition could be so apt for this particular line. Siraj Aurangabadi deserves a bow! All in all, a faith-restoring eternal song. Congratulations to the team.

This song is like having chai at dusk with beating of unaccomplished heart on a roof, echoing under clear grey sky. Where's your only possession is your failures and the chai's cup which you are holding tightly and sipping through every bit of chai while affirming the fear of last sip. last sip, and then staring at the empty sky blindly, dulling proportional to the sun set, beating your chest so to signal the heart, that you lost every single chance to tell her. Now the sun has set taking all hopes with itself. Leaving you alone in darkness with a completely empty cup and over filled heart !

Personally, after A.R. Rahman, Ali Sethi is the only musician whose songs have a sense completeness to them. You might not understand it at first, you might not even like it, but something will bring you back to it, and soon you will be addicted to them. Just like a drug. And the fact that you are from Pakistan only makes me feel that we are actually the same people, divided only by religion and politics. I will be eternally grateful to you for being you.❣

I am listening to this song as I write. Ali Bhai, I've known this poem for a long time, but your rendering is something else, delicately otherworldly and infinitely melancholy, befitting a poem about a broken-hearted poet who found another kind of love. God bless you, Ali, and may your music find many listeners, in Pakistan, India, and the world. (From Berkeley, California).

Goosebumps halfway through the song !! This song is so elevating, makes you want to sway in happiness or sadness I am just not sure. The music, the instruments, it's an entirely different feeling. Very soothing to the ears. Ali Sethi never disappoints, but how can someone be so good !!! IN LOVE WITH HIM AND THIS SONG !!!

This is the best ghazal I've heard from Ali Sethi. This is his finest performance. Urdu is the most beautiful language in the world along with Farsi. The Bollywood trash that they serve as 'Urdu' is the most base and bastardized version of the language possible. Not only that it almost always seems superimposed. Thank you, Ali for singing this masterpiece. This shows the glory and magnificence of Urdu. Your tallafuz was very apt and your voice seemed as light as a feather. The lyrics are absolutely gorgeous. Loved it more than any other song you've sung. You make Pakistan proud.

Bro really no need to ridicule other languages just to elate urdu
@aamnahere62505 жыл бұрын
@@joey6605 I wasn't ridiculing another language but the fact that many Hindi speakers insist it is Urdu when it's not. They also mispronounce it while claiming it's not Urdu. Urdu is a much older language than Hindi and in my opinion, much more beautiful. Instead of trying to steal from it, people should learn it as a language. That's what I meant. Also I am a woman not a man :)

What mood is the singer expressing through the song - complain? regret? agony? lament? reminiscence? ecstasy? voidness? or something else? Then I realized that is the state of mind of a LOVER.

This song has taken me to places where I have only been in my dreams .. it’s almost flashes of different times and scenarios all put together in a montage .. I see myself in those montages and people I know, I met . All my senses are working , I could smell those times through the flashes and feel the weather on my skin . I totally agree with everyone Ali Sethi is a good singer but so is others working in a field never could I put a finger what makes me listen to Ali then . He has the art to take you on your own journey , the journey you have probably forgotten, bad or good just makes you see yourself from the outside in that snow globe . Bless him !! keep doing what you are doing Ali you don’t know what you are doing but definitely a chosen one .

Woh ajab gharri thi k jis gharri, liya dars nuskha e ishq ka.... jo kitaab aqal ki kitaab par.... so wahin dhari ki dhari rahi.... Na to tu raha, na hi men raha... jo rahi so bekhabri rahi...... Oh my God! How incredibly powerful the 2nd couplet is! My understanding is that the poet is alluding to the end of the world or Qayamat. A strong firey wind will blow from some unknown source destroying everything we see. But his grieving heart will survive even that final calamity and will still continue to grieve beyond the end of times! In other words, his grief has no end. It is timeless, imperishable!!!

@raheelkhan71195 жыл бұрын
There are two version of 2nd line as per written 1- Chaali Simt-e-Ghayb se "kya" Hawa , kay Chaman "Zahoor" ka Jal gaya 2-Chaali Simt-e-Ghyb se "Ek" Hawa kay Chaman "Suroor" ka jal gaya in 1: its means "A wind so much different then ordinary worldly wind(what a wind..!!) blew from the place where destinies are written than garden of "Zuhoor" (Zuhoor means appearance of everything that our eyes can see or wanted to see) is burnt with that wind " because when wind reached us, we got the reality that things, beauty, love we were seeing was not the real peace of mind and joy of life in world , we were just supposing our little world between two persons or creating our visual perception of reality that loving someone is enough for us and for our joy of heart and we thought there is no more joy than this- when wind reached and destroyed garden means Reality become visible to us , Such appearance of world was not good because it was barrier in the way of divine love. in 2 : it means "A wind is blew from the nowhere, which burnt the Garden of "Suroor" , Suroor means the joy and pleasure which our heart attain via our eyes. Now Actually heart is Master of human body, heart itself can see without eyes, but as we made habit for it to stay idle and we will allow you to see things through eyes, heart than become dependent on eyes. Sight of eyes is limited but heart can see real and the stuff beyond the thing we watch with eyes. Now Eyes are actually obstacle in the way of opening of our heart sight. Therefore the Hijab from divine love and reality of world as well as the dependency of heart on eyes to watch beauty is burnt down with the Wind blew from God's will and the place where our destinies are written. At the end everything which are mentioned above (appearance (temporary beauty of wordly beloved ) OR things which give joy to our heart through eyes ) are burnt , but One thing Left .... The branch of Sorrow Tree which is heart.. Heart did not burnt because heart knew the reality from beginning but eyes manipulate images to heart because we want those temporary joys for us But heart know reality that it is not real joy.. somehow Human Fitrat is that heart will always know reality from the birth of Human, always wanted to be close to his creator but eyes makes him avoided from that , so heart remains non Burned because it always gives right path to human. You mixed up these two lines , you Crossover them... don't what will be the meaning now ---//// SORRY FOR BAD ENGLISH
