Best live band I've ever witnessed. Saw their last performance in Montreal, and did it ever seem like it was their last, wow. After seeing them live 8 times, I still miss them. I still purposely keep myself from listening to them because it will be a long, hard, and ongoing affair. I miss them like no one.
@thebigeasy874 жыл бұрын
Wow 8 times? They are my favourite band and I only got to see them once. They were not super regular here in the UK however I got an incredible one off show. Support from Final (JK Broadwick) then the Oceanic album in full with In Fiction as encore.

Some bands use vocals as instruments, as the singer of MEshuggah said theyre another percussion element to every song. With bands such as isis, where all of the songs are pure emotions, the screaming vocals are to help carry out the feeling.

Saw them in 2009 in Antwerp! I remember after the show I was standing alone at the front watching Aaron putting his drum in boxes. Looked at me and told him I was also a drummer and he was a big influence for me and gave me 2 sticks, such a down to earth guy! Stopped drumming and lost the sticks! I blame it on my favorite drummer Danny Carey, such a heavy burden wanting to be as creative as him. Bought the same configuration sonor sq2 kit as him so started all wrong :)! Maybe need to buy a nice 4 piece kit and follow some lessons! I'm high on coke so I wanted to share my thoughts, kind off...

@Finq08 My thoughts exactly. They found the perfect equilibrium between density and melody, and the vocals only add to the experience. And when it comes to the abrasive vocals, I can't say that I've ever heard a vocalist match Turner's tone. It's immediately recognizeable.

@Tibberclaw I think the growls are part of what makes Isis' sound - the sheer intensity, the primal raspiness of the vocals. This song didn't need them, sure. But I really can't picture most Isis songs without those abrasive vocals. If you take away that aspect, I thinkthe songs would suffer overall. Perhaps you just need to become more accustomed to harsh vocals.

@Tibberclaw I suppose it's just a matter of personal preference. I can see why you might feel the way you do with regards to the vocals, but I really don't get that vibe at all. I just wouldn't enjoy Isis as much without them.
