living in the moment is awesome, fuck your past, fuck your future, just live and breath. thats what music is about

Aaron is wearing a Joy Division shirt...yesss.....In other news, no matter how many times I hear this song, I can't go without replaying the last breakdown of it another 6 times or so. Amazing.

I discovered this band in 2013. My punk and metal friends acted as though I was speaking in a foreign tongue when I mentioned my discovery of Isis on KZbin. They responded as though, "oh, I never mentioned this band to you?". And my response was, "of course you didn't, cause if you did this band would've been the top discussion of our inebriated rants on music." "Oh", was the common response from my friends who already took the holy elixir that is Isis. Yet knowing that in the year of 2013, I still listen to them like a fanboy! This band, in terms of instrumentation, song lyrics, progression of the form, pseudo themed albums, and well thought out lyrics- what's not to like about them? They were the antithesis of Metal, but the harbinger of a more conscientious, sublime form of an art form that was unacceptable.

I saw this band for the first time in '00 opening for the Dillinger Escape Plan and Candiria. Yes it was as incredible as it sounds. Panopticon is my favorite era and I was there at every show on every tour. This song is unbridled greatness being exercised and flaunted in a remarkably free, unselfconscious, way. They revel in their extreme ability to wield such heaviness in such a flavorful and awe inspiring manner, while at the same time continuing to build tension and excitement for these huge gloriously satisfying pay-off crescendos. The statement "The Apotheosis of Rock" is borderline comical, but god damn if they aren't actually pulling it off here.

I love the ambient music and sounds they play in between songs live. Wish I could see them. Maybe they get back together one day. Who knows, the reason they quit was because they felt they did all they thought they could do as band. Maybe they feel different one day?

I love the way Aaron Harris seems to be drumming pretty much on the fly during a lot of those breaks... I love his drumming style.

On the absence of truth he's destroying pretty much everything before in history. With no doubt the best drumming I ever heard.
@nephilymbass114 жыл бұрын
coolest thing ever when Aaron breaks a string, makes a loop with his looper pedal so nothing drops out while he switches guitars. Smooth...... Sucks I never got to see them live.

One thing I wish Isis made more of is Live Dvd's! I'm so glad they produced this one since Panopticon would have to be my favorite Isis era. Although, Wavering Radiant would also be nice to see on a large high-def television with surround sound and a bowl loaded. That would be fucking bad-ass!

@27stonedaviators Yeah,,, I often play that climax breakdown just by itself, as much as I love all of Panopticon... It's one of my favourite Isis moments, or just musical moments period. Totally ecstatic, inspired, unabashed, fucking BRILLIANCE.
