The teamviewer scam has been going around for over a year now so I figured that someone should finally make a video on it to shed a little light on it. It is a relatively old scam in the osrs books!

People are most commonly targeted through twitch. About 20-30 accounts come into my stream per day asking for people to do capes for them for 20m. Keep an eye out, don't be a dumbass. Follow the two basic rules of RS. 1. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. 2. Don't do emotes near EmilyIsPro.

You can block input on the host machine with Team viewer, also +Jgomez836, that's not how that works, the client would not be open so there would be no connection to the server, besides you can't very well remote into a computer that doesn't have power.

+Ostentatious Gaming when the PC is shut down, all services, programs, and processes are instantly killed if there's no power to the computer, there's no way you can control it. it's like trying to play on a server that just crashed, it didn't close correctly but it still closes all connections. although when you shut the pc down they'll still have like 4-5 seconds of free-roam, after that the connection is terminated and they can't do anything.

One time when I made my first 2m or so I was lured to edgeville Wild. I had my money on me. All of a sudden a d chain appeared on the ground at level 4 or so. It was JUST out if Tele grab range. I knew what would happen so I dropped my cash stack on the ground and ran for it. Sure enough I was ice blitzed and ddsed. I quit RuneScape for a week. I came back online and I got a message from a guy saying "oh good there you are, we killed those guys who lured you and got your cash stack and items back. " All I had on me was 2m. He gave me 2m, a whip, 2 ancient staffs. Dragon scimtar and 1.2k death runes, 350 rune arrows, 2 rune plates, rune boots, and a glory. Bear in mind this was 2005 RuneScape. I told the guy only the 2m was mine and he gave me it all anyway and said , "If you need us we will be out there"

To those arguing that you'd have to be stupid to fall for this, imagine a scammer befriending you and becoming quite close to you over the course of a few weeks or months. They could then request that you go on TeamViewer for a number of reasons that you'd have no reason to object to, such as wanting compare banks, wanting to see an area that they do not have access to, wanting to watch you fight a boss or go Pking, or as demonstrated in the video, requesting help with obtaining a firecape.

For reference, if anyone does fall victim to this, as soon as you lose control just power off your computer by holding down the power button/flip the kill switch on the power supply. I actually had someone try this with me some years ago when I was trying to buy floor runs in dungeoneering. They said teamviewer had a voice chat to make things more coordinated (I only knew the basics of the program at the time) and right after he connected he locked me out tried to trade my gold to himself when I realized what was happening I hard booted my computer. So yeah, this does actually happen and they'll think up any number of excuses to get you to let them connect via teamviewer. Just be careful.

A possibly quicker way to end your programs if someone's hijacking your pc is by holding alt and pressing f4 over and over really fast. From my experiences using TeamViewer, when someone's remote controlling you you can also input commands at the same time. It is possible they changed this, best to verify by using a 2nd PC to remote control your own. Sometimes pressing ctrl+alt+delete twice in a row begins a pc's shutdown/reboot process. This might not be fast enough. If you're on a laptop and you consider your RS account to be more valuable than your PC or your personal health (due to risk of electrocution) you can detach the power plug if it's attached and quickly take out your battery. You could also pull the plug on your desktop (VERY dangerous). I recommend sticking with my 1st method. It's the fastest way of ending programs that I know of.

PVP OSRS. I was up in lumby doing my thing when a guy traded me showing me his stack (9m) and betted me I didnt have any money. Retardedly, I withdrew all of my items to square up his 9m (about 7.8m) and tried to trade him. He kept running around the Lumby bank declining my offer until he dragged me outside the doors. Then when I was about to show my stuff in trade, the text red in red "Character Frozen". Didnt really phase me until I started losing HP, I knew I had lost. I died and went back up the castle to confront him (some gg you got me comments, not mad) yet he didnt say anything; he kept staring at the door inside the safe zone. Id say he had a second account come in to smack me when I was trading him because it all happened so fast. I know it was dumb of me, and shouldve known the dangers. But damn it, they should make the whole castle perimeter a safe zone.

I know this sounds stupid but I got caught by one, the guy was buying ags for "60m cash fast!" So I traded him thinking it was the deal of a lifetime (ags was my bank) so I put it up in trade and he kept typing to distract me, and then said "here Tele to varrock the money is on my main" then put in a varrock Tele tab and me without thinking twice about what people are really like accepted and lost my bank. Not doing this for money or sympathy, I've since quit Rs, but just thought I'd share it around. And yes. I know how stupid I was, you don't need to tell me :)

You might call me retarded what ever I know I am for it. Especially since I use Teamviewer on a daily basis tbh.. But I fell for this I quit playing my main around a Year ago ago because of it. I lost around 500m. It wasnt out of greed either my irl friend asked me to do the cape for him since he got asked by the guy scamming I was going to do it for free.. and got me on teamviewer under the pretence that I would show them everything so To prove i wouldnt just hack and scam their items once on the account. If it wasnt for an IRL friend asking me to do it for them I Definitely wouldnt of got scammed this way because I do not trust random players what so ever. because of my IRL friend asking me I thought nothing of it.. also They can completely block all access to your computer. I didn't know you could do that because on previous versions you couldn't do so and the owner could still input and control the computer too. But no that was updated and you can lock them out Well played.

I can relate to scams nowadays and how people fall for them because back when I was like 13-14 I got scammed like twice and I even got banned, they scammed me and reported me asking their password afterwars(we were trading accounts basically), this scams just seem very silly, but young people are innocent and/or dumb :P

Downloaded something rs related and it didn't work/ do anything when I opened it, so I left it and went back to rs. While training someone pm'd me in game and said "Hey, I'm quitting and I want you to have my stuff, meet me at lumby bank". So I've obviously seen what a scam is like, so I promised myself that I wouldn't go anywhere with him except stay in the bank. I showed up and we talked, then I traded him and he showed his inventory (Nice stuff), so I exited the trade and as soon as I did he took over my mouse and logged me out, I tried to move my mouse away but it was almost being forced to move, so I was still logged in for a good 5 mins and I got my friends to see where I was, I was spamming in the bank and by the time he logged out, all of my gear was gone.

I got scammed 1.4b with this method last year. I had gotten into a clan chat with a couple "buddies" and one day we are going on a boss trip and one friend says he wants to show me the proper gear setups and told me to pull all my gear out of my bank and hop on teamviewer so it would be easier to show me. At the time I didn't think twice about it cause it was just like any other normal night online. At one point I went to grab a drink, when I came back to my computer I was in lumby with empty inventory and everyone had unadded me. I assume he walked me out to the wildy, skulled me, and had other friend kill me. Or traded and killed me for fun. lol. Haven't played since. Bet they're having a blast though.

people don't realize that if you actually do go through w/ it and get the fire cape they have your static ip address where it says " you last logged in @ x time from ip address x" they can then write that sht down. Using a different (maxed) account they could want to go "bossing" with you and make sure you risk bank then ddos you and let the boss kill you, this would take considerably more work but it works.

Or just press Alt + F4, it will shut off runescape, and then shut team viewer off. If he just won't let you do anything, just power off your comp manually, he'll get kicked off

i go tscammed by a jmod back in 2008 the guys name was modcheese (had the gold crown and everything) and said he will make me player mod. i just needed to give my bank pass at the time that was a huge fucking deal for me i was just a stupid little kid playing a game and i htought it would be epic. and hes a jmod what can happen he can steal everything lol, i told rs this and they said they can't do anything =/ so saying who would fall for this.... well you would have when you were younger and thought you could get your hands on 20mil easy

i got scammed for like 100m back in 2011 by this method. i was just a little lad. i felt like a ghost had taken control of my computer, i was so scared. With a flick to the wrist, i slammed my laptop shut and all went back to normal. but nothing was ever normal after this terrifying experience.

This tool is used for providing technical support to people remotely ( thus the remote control aspect) If for whatever reason you find yourself in this situation .. really if you were to disconnect your network cable or turn off your PC it would immediately disconnect the teamviewer session.

I used to use team viewer like 10 years ago my friend would fix my computer for me, because it would get viruses. At the time I played runescape, and thought someone could do something like this, but I never thought they would. People are scumbags

It's pretty obvious if someone asks to see your stats through another program when they can just look you up on the website of Runescape or if they're using the client from Osbuddy they can literally just right click them and click lookup or look them up by clicking the hiscores button. Nice though that you let people know anyway.

If you get scammed in any way then you deserve it. Check all trades, don't go into wildy, don't follow people, and don't join random people on random programs.. It's so fucking simple.

"you are completely locked out", what are you talking about? In any mode, you as a host have full control over teamviewer and can cancel the connection any time. Or if everything else fails, unplug the internet connection or computer and they can't do anything else. Aside from that, you have to be stupid to allow control access to a stranger and trade when team viewer connection is open.

Had a guy try this on me. His skype name is "insane.hd" he even told me about this video. he tried getting fire cape and mentioned teamviewer etc. etc. I told the guy, all you have to do is pull your internet plug power cord.. no big deal and he kinda choked up and didn't say much after that lol I use teamviwer and logmein ignition for controlling my computer from work to nightmare zone.
