You can easily run away from the attacker npc or you can solve a random event or you can return back to your spot even if a npc attacker kills ur char you CAN write protection in your scripts for these events... They need different or better detection system

Is it really a hustle? I mean you could work a real job and bot on the side. Botting means you don't have to actually be there doing anything the bot does it for you. So its not really much of hustle there is zero work. You download a bot and run it while you're at work. You come home check on it maybe then keep running it while you do other things. Got to go the store? Don't worry you have multiple bots running while there... I think the only way i can morally justify botting is if you can't work for some reason. Like being handicap or something so there is hardly any job you can work at.

Jagex isn't going to do anything about the bots. They never did. Very few get banned. There are so many obvious bots out there that have been there for ages. Take the grand exchange for example. There are always gambling bots, there are some bots called Steven that run around and spam the chat. They have been there for months.

Well, they did do something about the bots twice but they are considered one of the worst updates in history. I am talking here about what used to be RS2 and is RS3 today. The purpose of most bots is to farm gold that can be sold for real money. The trade limit in 2007 destroyed real world trading and thus made the bot problem much more managable. The second solution they implemented was a way to make real world trading obselete, by real world trading themselves. Microtransactions in RS3, despite its controversy, made a lot of botting obselete because Jagex filled that market themselves. And most people would obviously want a safe (In both being scammed and banned) way to pay real money for gold. I do occasionally play RS3 still and most of the time there's no bot in sight. This is the reason why Jagex can't fix the bot problem in OSRS though. Such controversial measures will most likely never be considered by the team and if they were it would be even less likely to pass a poll. Only way I can see Jagex fixing this is through some kind of machine learning. Because bots can likely beat any kind of regular detection. There's probably so many bots that it would not be feasible to have employees sort through all of those accounts and manually verifying them either. Although the idea of hired bot hunters does sound cool. A better report system, or a mass report specifically for bots with the ability to give information in why you think these accounts are bots(what pattern do you see between them?).

@@hiiammoot an easy way I detect bots since I used to bot myself are the random events. You know when you send the random event person away a puff of smoke appears and then goes away. Well bots can click on this Random Event person before it even appears on the screen. So fast that the only thing seen is just the puff of smoke. If you ever see that then you know they are using a bot since a Human can't know if there is a random event spawning.

With the posted note example. Most bots click the same pixel every time. Most humans don't press the same pixels 100 times, they move ever so slightly. So there is an easy way to notice the difference

nope, the key is that you can easly programm a set square within the clickabale area, to randomly choose a pixel to chose from. this will take the bot like 0.001 Sec longer to calculate. but its a fine price for being undetected.

You can absolutely notice a pattern when on someone who is using a bot compared to someone that has a post-it note stuck to its screen. There should be a lot of irregularities between clicks and the absolute click positions on mobile. Besides if 1000 people are following the exact same pattern for a skill it would be noticeable anyway. Jagex could potentially just run a bot themselves see what kind of pattern it produces and ban anyone with the same movement.

the #1 issue that prevents bot detection measures is false positives and how rushing a system that produces too many of them will kill the game/company. Everyone cries "Do something" and puts pressure on the devs, but then get mad when they get exactly what asked for, a rushed solution that while it works... It also bans a ton of legit accounts.

I can confirm that mobile has a bot detection because I received a soft ban for using an auto clicker on mobile. So there definitely is a detection system but maybe one that only determines repetitive clicks in the same 2 or more positions.

Most information on botting in this Video is false. RS uses heuristic analysis for bot detection and that can be used on Pc AND Mobile. Also Windows Tablets are a thing since the early 2000s. I've personally used an app that just tracks my taps on screen and just repeats those clicks..... honestly the game is just that simple. From my Experience getting caught is rare. I used to bot and it was fun The risk and reward feeling was awesome. It was great cause I could grind thousands of xp and gp while I was busy doing something else. The reason I botted was because I found out about Bonds after taking a hiatus from runescape for many years and found out you can just grind GP in game and buy Membership. So I said "why not just bot and see where it takes me" If I get caught I'll have lost nothing. If I make enough to buy members then I'll keep playing. So I made a new account and tried it out. About a week later I finally made enough to buy a Bond. Once I made members it was actually really easy to just keep going. Then I was banned after about 3 months of on and off botting. Once I got banned it wasn't really fun anymore I just feared my account was gonna get banned again so I stopped. Now since I have the levels in skills to make decent gp every week I can just grind normally without a bot and I'm fine.

In other games you can monitor the data to detect the frequency of behavior of real players from fake. It takes time to set up, but you can easily detect real players from bots by activity/hours/and matrices monitoring. In other games, you can normalise a data set by looking at the difference in behavior from paying players and free to play players. Then you set those parameters into a detection system. Other than that, if you design the game to have enough uncertainty and force the players to engage in active decision making processes, then bots can't be developed to be effective.

I know I've looked like a bot before when I was grinding skills harcore. It's been awhile since I played RS, but caging chins for example. 4 hours a day without changing anything was nothing. I imagine Jagex are secretive about the stategies they employ to detect botting for obvious reasons, but a good way forward I think would be to program the system to flag accounts which are performing repetitive tasks over long-hours in a day. This doesn't necessarily confirm botting, but accounts could be placed into a random-event like scenario that requires conscious input to get out. If they don't get out of it within a few minutes then they can be banned. I imagine most bots could be programmed provide the required "input", but only if the bot programmer is able to observe the scenario. I'd also suggest checking which accounts the bots commonly interact with through trades etc. and banning the "mains" which is much more of a punishment.

1. Release scores of people with the power to report bots directly to Jagex. 2. Register EVERY SINGLE ACTION taken by the reported bots. 3. Machine learning what actions the bots have in common. There is always a pattern and with thousands of data points it should be possible. Not just actions like clicking and moving. I'm talking exp gain, exp gain/h, specific skills, specific areas, play time, equipment, items picked up etc etc.

I found this video very interesting and well made (I'll even give it a like lol) however i can't help but notice one issue. There is clearly a bot problem in RuneScape but does discussing problem then create more of a problem. I for one didn't know about boting on mobile until this video brought it to my attention, and in the video you've said yourself the chances of being caught seem very low. Obviously you've come into the video from a bots are bad and shouldn't be done side but i can't help but wonder how many other people there were like me who will now go on to buy one of these bots now they know about them (just to clarify i have not and will not use a bot im using my perspective as example). If this is the case then how can you fix a problem, let alone raise awareness of a problem without making the problem worse. Just some food for thought.

He scammed me and it was my fault that i trusted him. i met him after that at the GE and wrote in chat "spam (my username)" and all the stephen bots started spam traded me. edit: Don't really know for sure now that this is the main guy that is behind the bots.
