I think it's clear which map looks better overall but are there any parts you like more in Spiro? Personally the coastal area is more detailed in Spiro and the night sky looks sharper, also when the sun rises I like how the whole sky is red/orange.

I think gateways coasts are as good factoring them all in, but since theirs no migration at most of them by the north western part of the map it goes unnoticed.

Along the coast spiro is WAY better than gateway, but gateway is better than spiro inland

Honestly, I prefer a forest with more Pines! And I prefer flatter places! Walking in these places in GATEWAY with APEX will be a nightmare!

Shame the landmarks are underwhelming, I remember playing thenyaw and being able to look at far away rock formations/radio towers and being able to know where I am. Feels like they dropped the ball with it at least on spiro

Gateway doesn't really have "landmarks", but you are for *sure* able to tell where you are at all times. Every part of the map is unique for the most part. Until, of course, you get deep into the forest- I do wish there were more clearings and whatnot. That'd be cool.

I love this. It really puts the improvements from Spiro to Gateway. That Spiro to Gateway jungle cut was perfect. I love to see peoples editing improving.

I do gotta say i love the Spiro sunsets/rises more that gatways, i like how its more of a fade into rather then short clips of different lightings

Spiro felt more natural, less Gamey to me, gateway has some really nice spots but overall due to the size feels less populated with assets and quite more artificial, I loved spiro because it was more immersive, well at least all parts except the center.

idk what part of spiro felt "natural" to you ngl. The map was horribly built- there are literal *rows* of trees in some places. As in, straight rows. The grasslands were flat and plain, and the textures were quite awful. Plus a complete lack of any sort of effects. Gateway has mist in the swamp and riverdelta, there's hardly any straight-up flat areas, swamp gives your dino a duckweed effect if you swim in the water, etc.

@@Val-hz3fc I don't judge any of the new weather systems because they were not implemented in Spiro, some regions around center were eh... but overall coastlines much better than the new map, as well as Spiro did Jungle better imo, the new map has some enlarged and scaled areas that are simple ground geometry and 0 clutter, yes slowly it improves, the swamp in new map is also becoming better, but there are still many regions that look really off. Personally I don't like the massive sci-fi buildings, they remove that primal feeling spiro had.

Technically spiro is still an option but it's on a separate old branch and no one plays on it

@@Doqi not sure what "old branch" means...but it should be still promoted on official servers if it is still compatible 100% will be players favouring it if it's avaiable...but for now i can't see any server with Spiro set maybe should be 50-50 since for now there are only 2 maps

Gateway did not resolve the main problem. They did not encourage ppl to spread across the map. Again we have 1 big hotspot, on the other hand they did totally useless regions like north or north-west. Main river with delta is so great but totally dead. Map is also 1/3 too big for 100, even 150 ppl.

The N/NE hotspot is more of a result of a broken ai, stamina changes and fast hunger times. And now that people have found the new "center" I don't see them spreading out even if they fixed the ai and made stam/hunger more feasible

@@Doqi yes, AI also, but there is another factor. Ppl prefear to play at opening, treeless and fairly flat terrain around some water source. If you remember V3- the same situation. 2 major hotspots - twin lakes and waterfalls. Gateway is very slopy, full of dense forests and rocks.

I don't know if it's the map or the fact that legacy servers I played had 200 players or the 150 players (100 in officials) in Gateway, half of which could be underwater/up in the air or trees.

AI is definitely a main problem for now, but i'm sure will be better in future then it's the nr. of players allowed according to map size and then are the POI's (points of interest)...which should encourage players to gravitate around them (main water sources for example, and accordingly - AI should spawn mainly around big water sources)
