Islam advances fast in South Africa. Muslim life in South Africa continues to develop rapidly.
Muslims make up about 3 percent of South Africa's population of nearly 60 million. Muslims have lived in South Africa for hundreds of years and own a number of mosques and heritage sites across the country. South Africa's largest Muslim population is located in the Western Cape . region
The entrance to Islam in Africa is in the East African region which is believed to have spread through Muslim refugees in Ethiopia. It didn't take long for the influence of Islam to grow rapidly in other African regions, including South Africa. The Indian community that was present in South Africa in the late 17th to 18th centuries (1601-1700 AD) contributed to the majority of the Muslim population in the region. In the late 19th century Islam was embraced by hundreds of thousands of South Africans.

Actually, Islam has been very strong in South Africa for decades now. We have Muslims that are Indian, Chinese, Black, White...and now we have many Arabs and Asians living here too. Non Muslims understand basic Islam, and they respect it, we have close friends of other faiths, we live together, attend each other's weddings, funerals, parties...we love each other's food, Non Muslims prefer Muslims in their neighborhoods. We work together at all levels, Muslims are at the top , C Suite executives of major international corporations, they are very successful businessmen They donate alot to Non Muslims, they were a major part of the struggle against apartheid. We Muslims come in all sorts of colors, mixtures of races, all academic and financial levels. Not everyone in SA loves Muslims, but we are everywhere.

Not much is known about Muslims in South Africa, it turns out that they live modestly, peacefully and can carry out their worship freely without any pressure.
