@@Alakhana It has everything to do with Bangladesh because it’s the same people (Bengalis), same land, same language. - it’s OUR HISTORY. Bangla-Desh literally means ‘The country of the Bengalis’ or ‘Country of Bengal.’

@@Alakhana Yes you’re right. The Bengal sultanate was founded by Shamsuddin Ilyas Shah - a Sistani (now modern south eastern Iran). That being said, you fail to mention he is often regarded as father of ‘Bengali nationalism.’ Even before this period, Bengalis always had a unique identity in the subcontinent - socially, culturally, economically and politically. Persian was the administered court language ALONGSIDE Bengali. The variant vernacular of Bengali spoken then was Dhobashi (meaning Bilingual), - which took great influence from Persian and Turkish. This dialect however is practically dead - and only used for scholarly/academic purpose.

Bangladesh has no history before 1971 before that is was apart of Pakistan and was historically apart of Hindustan. The rulers of the Bengal Sultanate were mainly Afghans, Pashtuns and Turks not Bengali’s and Persian was the official language not Bengali. So no it’s not “Bangladeshi history”.

@@Alakhana It is Bangladeshi history because though the rulers were not Bengali but they married the native Bengali population and lived here and they are also living here.We hate ourselves calling us hindustanis or pakistanis.We are Bengalis and Bangladeshis.During the time of Bengal Sultanate, Bengalis started to convert to Islam and before that the Bengali population used to be of Buddhists and Hindus.Now the Bengali population is of Hindus and Muslims.We hated the Mughal rule. Also our leaders like Isa Khan,Musa Khan,Protapatido etc fought against them.It was the Mughals who called us Hindustanis but we never like the term even today.So Bangladesh has history.So stop talking about which you don't know.You talked about the Bengal Sultanate and said that there were no Bengali rulers but yes there were. Jalaluddin Muhammad Shah was a hindu. He converted th Islam and was a Sultan of the Bengal Sultanate.

@@needforspeed186 modern day Bangladesh at that time was considered apart of Hindustan Bengal was a region in Hindustan, even the Indian state of Bengal has more history than Bangladesh. The sultanate was ruled by dynasty’s like the Karrani Dynasty who were Pashtuns from modern day Pakistan. Persian was the official language not Bengali. Even the founder of the sultanate wasn’t Bengali. Even if it was a Bengali state like you claim India would have more claim to it as Bangladesh was always considered as apart of Hindustan until 1971, in fact India could have just taken over Bangladesh after their independence but gave them a country. India created Bangladesh.

For example, Nawab Shiraj Ud-Daulah was Bengali but his military chief Mir Zafar (known as a dictator in the history) was of foreign decent.

This region was still rich during the reign of Aurangzeb. In fact it was one of the richest provinces of the Mughal empire. There is a theory* that suggests Bengal’s economic boom during Aurangzeb’s reign was the result of the implementation of the Sharia system in Bengal by provincial governor Shaista Khan. *Islamic and European Expansion: The Forging of a Global Order, Michael Adas (1993);

Can anyone please help me find out the estimated GDP of the Bengal sultanate?
@ForgottenIslam
@ForgottenIslam 11 ай бұрын
It is hard to assume the real GDP of the Bengal Sultanate considering there is not enough data and sources to find that information, however it is clear that at the time of the Bengal Sultanate's existence, it was 10x more economically powerful than the medieval Kingdom of France, with each person earning around $550 per year. We can exactly say again whether this is the correct data yet it does give some sort of insight into the prosperity of the state. One undeniable fact however is that 1/4 of Europe's exports were traced back to the Bengal state. I hope that helps you in your research!

Actually quite the opposite. You see, prior the Muslim liberation of the Bengal by Shamsuddin Firuz Shah of the Lakhnauti Sultanate, there was a Hindu King by the name Gour Govinda. Under his administration, the persecution of certain ethnic/religious minorities was not only common but also encouraged by the King. For example, those Tantric Buddhists were treated horribly and many of them called Dalits (untouchables) - any who touched them or associated themselves with the Tantrics were also abused. In fact, the reason for the conquest of the Bengal itself was due to the violence of the Hindu King Govinda - after a Muslim man had sacrificed a cow to celebrate his newborn's birth as within tradition, Govinda has the baby killed and chopped off the right arm of the father. Such began a call for liberation and actual tolerance. Next time you decide to comment on a history page, bring some history please, not your bigotry.

It breaks my heart knowing that Bangladesh would have been more influential and richer in this day if it wasn't for the betrayal by the commander of the army Mir Jafar and other high ranked officials in the Nawab of Bengal empire which led to the downfall of a country which would have had a much brighter future if it wasn't for mir jafar's selfish greed to gain wealth and power
