Fantastic discussion on the nuanced topic of gender relations in Islam! The balanced approach to examining classical and modern perspectives while addressing sensitive issues with intellectual depth is truly commendable. It’s refreshing to see how the podcast grounds its insights in authentic scholarship and provides a thoughtful critique of modernist influences on Islamic thought. Keep up the great work Dr Zeeshan!

Dear Maulana Nadat, is it possible to walk through Maulana Zeeshan’s reading framework/strategy, how he records the notes to providing Mulahazaat on the books? What are his recommendations for how to make the most out of a book?

The section on the principle in making alliances is very informative. We can take the same approach and perhaps apply it to many of todays partnerships, like Hezbollah with Hamas, for example

Asalaamualaikum ustadh. I had a question. We know how Aisha ra would teach and spread Hadith from behind a veil as ordered by Allah in surah ahzab. Do we have some sort of texts alluding to how female scholars in particular would teach men. More particularly, and what led me to this question, was sayida nafisa ra who was the teacher of imaam shafi’. Surely if there are no texts out there where scholars are refuting her for teaching men (if that is what she did, in whatever manner she did), you can infer some strength to your position via ijma (sukooti) at the very least) Please let me know if you researched this aspect or your thoughts on this. Jazakallah khair. Great podcast btw. Also great book.

Moulana this same borrowing concept made by the Orientalists has been done for other verses of the Qur’aan - if you could maybe in the future do a video for these.

Bear in mind that this is a book review podcast. It's unlikely that a topic like that would come up unless a book civers the same subject. Maybe get in touch with a fatwa centre instead

We are living in confusing times. First we had an identity crisis amongst our youth. We now have a new "Deobandi Identity" crisis. This poor Molvi is sitting on a platform linked with a brand name of people of Taqwa such as Shaikul Hadith ra but seems enlightened by the writings of Qasim Zaman under the name of "no its not modernity" We live in modern times. This is what you get from part time Alim courses half baked molvis

Assalamu Alaykum There seems to be some confusion here. Qasim Zaman applied a definition of modernism which makes the term more meaningful than just saying we live in the modern period. If you listened to the podcast you would find we provide a critique of modernism with a case study at then end. Beyond that, I do not understand the harshness in your tone. I see you have an active channel and have studied. If you want to have a discussion about anything that is said, I am happy to insha'Allah. (From Dr Mawlana Zeeshan)

The principal of Azadville where Muntasir graduated from gave his weekly speech on 12/11/2024 where he mentioned that some people who graduated from Azadivlle have written about the permissibility of freemixing. He then refuted this western concept. Zeeshan’s own teacher Mufti Shah Sadrudeen and his brother Mawlana Anas signed the original statement against freemixing which the pro freemixing gang was incensed by and therefore they came up with a plan of writing their defence of freemixing. We would like to see an open discussion between Mufti shah Sadrudeen the teacher and Zeeshan the student. It would be good to livestream it so people can ask questions.
