It was explained to me by sheik Abu Usama. That the fact that you have to enter into a contract agreeing to pay riba ( even if you never use the card ) was Haram.

At least in kafr countries, most transactions are haraam as they involve late fees, even for something as simple as school fees. As the hadith goes even if you don't deal riba you will be affected by it. In such an economy it is arguable that you can use credit card if you keep up with your payments. But I wonder if using the credit points is halal, as the benefits a credit card comes with is primarily the reason why someone would issue one.

Nowadays all debit cards are Visa, Maestro and its likes which makes no room for any credit card to be used islamically. So the requirement of a last resort credit card is vanished. Use debit cards in sha Allaah.

But sheik in order to rent today they ask for the credit score and history so how can we find a place to live? can't buy a house, can't rent .. what can we do ? renting a car truly needs a credit card because they need to hold it for insurance..ya Allah please forgive us, it's really hard to live like this.. can't do anything and in the future they will also cancel cash so we must use the credit card..

Just get a mobile phone contract or gas or electric bill, and pay that via debit card, they will see your credit history from there

You can also open a secure credit card. Which is your own money, just use some of it and pay it off every month, it helps build you score without having a credit card.

In this case best way is use the credit card and make sure you pay it on time because there is no interest added whatsoever sim contract also is a good way however car payments is an unnecessary ribba that too many people pay for. A £2000 car is less expensive to maintain and run than most moderns cars on finance. My £1500 car is very good why? Because no monthly payments usually very small things go wrong.

My advice would be taking the credit card as a necessity and ask Allah for forgiveness,as we all living in this corrupt world with compulsions and at the end we end up being in such situations,the only time we should avoid this is when we take credit card as luxury as asked in the question 🙋

you won’t get charged interest if you pay the balance in full each month. So you can get a rewards card, rack up the points and not be charged interest

What if I connect my credit card to my debit card, where the credit card is only charged if there is money in my debit card. As soon as the credit card is charged, the debit card money will add onto the credit card. Using this for cashback rewards.

you can contact the credit card company, and also read the small print because credit card companies always change the rules.

It's haram since the income earned from banking jobs includes Ribba. If it's a halal bank that doesn't deal in interest, it's fine.

I once worked in the IT department of Halifax bank, for some reason it didn't click with me for 2 years that this was Haram, (as I was fixing the PC's that then allowed them to earn riba). once it dawned on me what I had been doing left with immediate effect.

If credit card is paid via direct debit, then there should be no issue because no Riba. And if you are paying for cashback/rewards the explanation does not make sense why this is an issue

If you owe some money you have to pay that before going to hajj . Im not 100% sure about umrah . But i assume it would be the same

entering into a contract to pay interest, (even if you never pay any interest) is Haram. I personally wouldn't go down that road to fund anything, let alone Hajj and or Umrah. Hajj is only a fard for you once you can afford it.
