I agree about the man infront... I think he is probably oblivious to the concept of Adaab commonly adapted by Muslim culture.. maybe he is a revert, or simply a person just about to learn about Islam.Remember how our Prophet would treat the Bedwin Arabs who had no manners to the Prophet. He forgives them :) So lets just ignore that guy.

I once sat with English people and they had their legs in each others faces whilst sitting and I was shocked as an Arab. But they seemed fine with it and so I understood not all cultures are one.

Well the real reason why muslims fell behind is not because of imam ghazali. But because of muslims own "good deeds". Muslims today love opulence love to live in palaces love to drive big cars while absolutely forgetting what Islam says. No disrespect but when you become the slave of your nafs then the fall of gharnata is inevitable.

@@south1328 Wait… So you’re telling me that since there are search results on a particular query, it makes that query true, or likely to be true? Subhan Allah. "O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, INVESTIGATE, lest you harm a people out of IGNORANCE, and become regretful over what you have done." (Qur’an 49:6) Another question for you… What is your definition of “reformist”?
@south1328
@south1328 Жыл бұрын
@@IslamOnDemand well don’t take my words for it, I’m not the one trying to reform Islam. Reform is a dirty word or should be to a Muslim. It’s updating or changing the text of Allah. Go do your research I’ have no evil intentions. Just simply said you have scorpion on your back, so take heed or don’t it will benefit you. Surah 2 verse 11 , When they are told, “Do not spread corruption in the land,” they reply, “We are but reformers”! And why are you quotation the Quran at me I’m not telling you to go harm them but to watch out for the wolfs in sheep clothing! The so called Muslim university in the west has been taken over by these secularized “imams”. Why else would they be rubbing shoulders with ilhan Omar or gay Christian pastors? The agenda is clear for one seeking the truth, we are supposed to be truth seekers.

@@south1328 “Reformer” is a label and it has different meanings to different people. Let’s deal with the issue directly… You are accusing Hamza Yusuf of “Updating or changing the text of Allah”. Where is your evidence to support this claim? Don’t speak around the issue or tell me you can “sniff out” the truth. PROVIDE YOUR EVIDENCE - a direct quote, a writing, something other than your opinion. This is what the Qur’an commands us to do… “Investigate” and don’t fall victim to rumors and gossip. So please provide your evidence.

Hamza you went wrong towards the end. "Islam is one of the greatest....if not the greatest". Islam is the true Deen, the last and final revelation, sent to the last and final Messenger. Hence, should not be even compared to other man made 'religions' in that manner.

I think you missed entirely the point of the lecturer. He does allude that prosperity might be connected to rational sciences and exploration of the world, however that's only to point out the second worldview which evolves as a reaction to colonial trauma. The "neo rationalist school" as he called it. Historically, there is a stark contrast between the Islamic world's approach to prosperity which harmonized the sacred and material sciences and emphasized human dignity and charity, and the post enlightenment world which demonized the ethics and we see the worst human tragedies come from this worldview including genocides, slavery, colonialism, and other institutional oppression which though not unprecedented historically never saw magnitude as under the European post enlightenment. They alone have this false dichotomy between religion/ethics and natural science. I think it is clear to any objective observer that the human experiment of the west has failed and caused more human suffering than any other political philosophy in history.

@@themuslimviking9811 Your argument of human dignity and charity crumbles when the super riches in your very religious countries abuse the labors of their very own people with the same faith to build those towers of vainglory. The fact that these countries would allow the accumulation of such obscene amount of wealth and power by very few families of privileges makes me believe that your faith is but a tool to brainwash the grassroot into accepting inherent inequality.
@themuslimviking9811

@@ultracapitalistutopia3550 dear I will answer in two parts. This part will refute your unsubstantiated claim the second will answer your theological concern. I challenge your assumption of "very religious countries". This is unsubstantiated claim is actually false according to every metric. Note I said "harmonizED ... emphasizED" meaning past tense. My dear grammar for accurate reading comprehension is very critical to proper understanding and dialectic. The nominal Muslims today are not a husk of what they once were insofar as adherence to the religion is concerned. That said, even with the post-colonial semblance of Islamic practice we see today, Muslims still are the greatest contributors to peace and human dignity in the world - objectively speaking. Gross volunteer time and gross monetary donations for example. Both statistics favor Muslims despite being a minority demographic. Thirdly regarding housing refugees: Turkey alone has more than all Europe, Russia, China, and USA combined. By the way we don't damage their dignity by calling them refugees nor politicizing them, we call them honored guests. Human dignity. Every objective metric today shows that Muslims are the most humane, charitable, and grant dignity through ethical adherence to the divine law. This is just a fact. However, your claim any Muslim group or country today is "very religious" simply does not hold up to even casual historical scrutiny. It is clear to see the devotional practice of Muslims in the 5th century (11th Georgian century) compared to the 15th century (21st Gregorian century) is an ocean compared to a droplet. Therefore the gap is less than it once was, but still wide and in favor of Muslims. Besides, if the comeback you can come up when we mentioned the genocides and colonial project of the west is to accuse poor working conditions for construction workers in gulf countries .. that says a lot in itself.
