On the issue of polygamy. The Shari'ah law is as per Qur'an, if a Moslim is worried about financial expenditure then they are ordered to stay with one wife only. The reason is, polygamy is actually allowed as a means of financial support and social security for the secular women. This is further clarified in the other part concerning this matter, where the Moslim men are ordered to not leave women who are widows and devorcees uncoupled. Original Moslims understood this very well and that was their practice.

As a practicing Muslim who grew up in a solid Muslim majority environment before emigrating as a young man to the USA, I can confidently say the following: The luckiest men are those whose first wife actually recommends that the husband take a second wife, and who even suggests for him the candidate that she already loves and trusts and has thoroughly vetted, and whom she actually wants to see her husband marry and take care of. You can see this sometimes among two women who are inseparable best friends or kinswomen, who love and trust each other, and if one of them is having trouble finding a good, kind, caring husband, the first wife might recommend that her husband marry her best friend or kinswoman as his second wife, so that the latter isn’t condemned to permanent spinsterhood. I’ve seen this scenario before, and those marriages are some of the happiest and most solid that I’ve ever seen.

YATAMA means orphans as well as unmarried, divorced or widowed women. 4:3 If you fear that you (the society) will not be able to do justice with the orphans, (as may happen in times of war and political turbulence, the government shall announce a state of Emergency), then, in order to accommodate widows and orphans, men of sound finances and character shall be encouraged to marry among these widows with mutual choice; two, three, and four. But, if you fear that you will not be able to deal justly, then, you must not take additional wives, and may continue with what you already have. This will be more suitable to prevent you from doing injustice and face financial hardship. I felt the same honestly. I know myself and I know that I would just loose feelings for my husband. If your husband decides to take a second wife or more and it makes you so sad that you cant even practice your religion correctly you are allowed to divorce. But please talk about this before you marry a man. It will save you so much time in your life. Men have the right to marry multiple women and women have the right to decide if they want to live with a man like that or not. ESSAN 29 Hello i would like to answer your question , Polygamy is allowed in Islam it is not compulsory just allowed like it was allowed in the religions before us , check how many wives prophet david or king david had in the bible , how many wives prophet jakob ? how many wives prophet ibrahim had ? Sara and haggar , so Polygamy was allowed before too , Islam just restricts it to 4 wives , Arabs before Islam used to marry 10 or more islam says if you wish to marry more than one wife there are strit condtions 1 a man must provide for all wives , each wife had right to her own place provided by husband and she dose not share house with other wives , he has to treat them equally and fairly , if he can't meet these condtions then its not allowed for him to marry more than one , if a woman dose not want her husband to marry another one she just adds that condition to the marriage contract. Islam is beautiful .

In an ideal world a good muslim man will comply with all these conditions you have mentioned and which I am aware of. Sadly a lot of muslim men use it as an enxcuse to marry younger women or even little girls to satisfy there sexual desires. I do know that these sick practices have been going on in the west as well ( like molesting children and stuff) but to make it right for men to marry them is encouraging a very bad behaviour. We do need to separate Allah from the people who claim they follow allah's word but we are in 2018 and the Quran was sent down 1300 years ago. Hence, Equality and fairness is the best.

Many women don't have parents or 'in-laws', they're orphans or their parents are ill/retired abroad after lengthy careers - there is no burden on their husbands to follow the mother-in-law but the same can't be said for women in developing countries like India/Pk/Somalia etc.

Polygamy is only for the financially capable Muslims men, it's meant to be a solution for widowed women who cannot provide for themselves, and to reduce single mothers as well as children growing up without a father, at minimum the man should have at least another room for the other wife, at most he should have another house for the wife, financially he must spend fairly between them in relation to their needs and must fulfill their rights Most Muslims and non-muslims ignore the fact that you need to be financially capable first before considering polygamy and the father in law and current wife must be consulted, if the father in law disagrees he should respect the father in law's wishes Polygamy isn't for Muslim men to have a harem Only benefit for the man is that he gets to have more than one wife and possibly sleep with more than one woman, but when has that ever stopped men from doing so? At least in this case, he is responsible for her

She talks of wives as headaches for the man, and gives the ridículous argument that women benefit from polygamy because he is the one who has to sustain them financially, completely distegarding the most important thing of matrimony, love.
