You guys should have actually reacted to the iconic 1985 performance of Islands in the stream when both these legends were in their prime. Kenny was ill here and Dolly was deliberating toning it down so he could keep up.

IMO "reaction" videos should ALWAYS try the studio cut FIRST, the "release" that made it popular. Example: saw a reaction video of Queens Bohemian Rhapsody in which there backing tracks from the band were NOT in play. So if you never heard the ORIGINAL studio cut, you'd have no idea what you were missing!!!

The Bee Gees wrote this song, and Barry Gibb offered it to Rogers, who said it sounds like a duet. Barry had agreed to produce his album Eyes That See in the Dark and write songs for it. Rogers thought Parton would want to sing "Islands" with him, and the rest is pop/ country history.

Who would of thought... 1) that disco legends, the Bee Gees, could write and produce a iconic country hit that was recorded by country legends Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton... 2) that a country song written by disco legends could be sampled in the late 1990's and become a hit hip hop/rap hit? I love the fact that Dolly is so tasteful that her skirt was see through, but her under drawers went to her knees and not sone bikini nonsense. Tasteful and classy!!! Love both Kenny and Dolly!! Grew up on em both❤
