I spent my 30th birthday backpacking at Isle Royale last year. It's in my top 3 favorite National Parks; getting to this park is an adventure in and of itself, and once you're there everyone you meet is riding the same high you are! With no paved roads and essentially no amenities once you've left the lodge harbor, it's a wilderness experience Teddy Roosevelt would recognize.

Oh yes! For those who want and have the ability to hike and camp, it has to be one of the best parks to visit. No crowds, no RV. It's comparable to parks in Alaska like Kobuk Valley and Gates of the Arctic, though those places have shorter season and no marked trails, so it's even more of an adventure.

Beautiful! But those trails looked a little wet & slippery. Thank you so much for sharing!

Isle Royale National Park? More like Isle "I-Get-Roared" National Park! Hear the roar of the wolves and the snore of the bears as you navigate this remote island paradise. Just make sure to bring your hiking boots and a sense of adventure. Don't worry, the only thing endangered here is your ability to resist the temptation of taking too many stunning nature photos. Isle "Royally Fun" National Park awaits - get ready to go wild!

Howl of the wolves - YES! No bears though.... Yes, lots of great opportunities for photos!

Isle royale is becoming over crowded because of KZbinrs and their lust for views
