You covered the dials with your hand as you were demonstrating pulling pins out and then you were not clear as far as the Regen set up, and again your hand covered the dial as you were turning it. I am trying to figure mine out since nothing is ever happening with it and was hoping to understand it better.

Hi Shelley: depending on which version of this unit you have, the pins will either pull out toward you or they will pull out from the center. In either case, a pin pulled "out" will cause the softener to regenerate on that day. How often your softener needs to regenerate depends on your water hardness and the number of people living in your home, so I can't tell you how many pins you will need to pull out, but it ought to be set at an even interval (e.g. every two, three, four, six, or twelve days). If your unit is never regenerating, it could be because all of the pins are currently pushed in, but it is more likely another issue. Check to see if the clock is keeping time. If not, then--assuming that it is plugged in to a working electrical outlet--the timer motor likely needs to be replaced. If you want to try manually regenerating it, just turn the center dial clockwise until you hear water, and then let it run. If everything is working, the unit should go through the regen cycle on its own from there (this will take a couple of hours); however, if it just stays in the backwash position, then either the timer motor is bad, or the piston is jammed. In either case, the unit will need service to continue.

Hi Robert, thanks for your very positive and helpful feedback! We didn't show salt settings because they are pre-set at the factory based on the size of the unit, and we don't recommend deviating from the default settings. I'm sure you're aware, though, that these can be changed by removing the back cover and adjusting the "lbs of salt" on the brine cam. Thanks for watching!
