Isolation Test held after repairs on both sides of ball valves. Watch as I change the drier core, vacuum, and recharge with 75 lbs M099. Will it work well for this application?

Great video! Fixing isolating valves on the system will definitely help in the future in a large system.

It really should be some type of mechanical code to install them on large split systems over a certain tonnage/btu.

You can use contact cleaner to clean the core/screen. Works good.

Yes also carburetor cleaner from an auto store works very well too. Thanks for watching and commenting

Curious if you had to force open the hot gas bypass solenoid during the vacuum? Or was is a non issue because you also pulled down from the liquid line and suction line at the same time?

Because of the way I arranged the vacuum setup , manually opening the hot gas solenoid was not required. The vacuum pulled through the liquid through travels back from evap coil through condenser coil through discharge line and entering side of hot gas, and suction line travels back to compressors , and the third hose was on the hot gas line to the leaving side of the solenoid. Good observation and thanks for watching

Why do you hate mo99 and what would you use for an R22 replacement if you could call it?
@dfwhvac
@dfwhvac Жыл бұрын
I just am not a fan of mo99 or 422b primarily because I work on a lot of trane 3D and Danfoss scroll compressors , and those refrigerants will lock up the compressors due to lack of oil return. There are service bulletins about it and I’ve seen it in the field. I think m099 and 422b work great most of the time for smaller split systems and package units. 407c would be my go to r22 refrigerant performance wise even though it might require oil changes and such , it was slightly better performance and less issues with larger tonnage systems. That being said , I was pleasantly surprised with the temps of mo99 on this circuit. No drop in beats r22 , and we still use a lot of r22 where I’m located. Lots of chillers in DFW that have been well maintained still use r22. It’s just to the point that it’s so expensive now we are being forced to find suitable drop ins.

If it were up to me depending on size and price of repairs I would would rather repair a leak and go back with r22. Lots of our commercial customers will pay extra to keep it r22, but in residential it’s better replace the system or go back with either mo99 or 422b

@@dfwhvac have you tried bluon? It's supposed to be the commercial side where it shines. Also 427a is identical to 407c with a small mix ratio change and a small added ingredient which allows for no oil change. I've not heard many actual real world results from either.

@@realSamAndrew I have no personal hands on experience with Bluon or 427a , but I have read good things about them online. It might be worth looking into, thanks for the info and comments

If mineral oil, we use 422B. If poe oil, we use 407C.

What’s all that on the drier?
@dfwhvac
@dfwhvac Жыл бұрын
If you’re referring to the old drier it is contaminants such as moisture or fouled oil that was accumulated over the years of it being there - the maintenance department here kept recharging the circuit that was going flat and I doubt seriously they ever changed the core or preformed a proper vacuum . When the system goes flat the direr core will become contaminated from exposure to atmosphere for a long period of time .
@dfwhvac
@dfwhvac Жыл бұрын
If you’re referring to the direr itself it’s made of a moisture absorbing desiccant .. best way I kind of describe is like kitty litter that has been compressed together with a binding agent . Thanks for watching

@@dfwhvac I was talking about that drier core. Haven’t studied commercial honestly don’t know where to start when it comes to commercial. I’ve had light commercial offers but I haven’t even done single stage single phase or any work so I feel like that would be a huge learning curve haha
@dfwhvac
@dfwhvac Жыл бұрын
@@EastDallasKicks it’s the best learning curve. If you can find a good company that will take care of you and allow you to grow and take your time without too much immediate expectations , it would be a great career opportunity. Residential the real money is by being a business owner or sales commission working for a company that probably rips people off .
