The thing is Mengukuo (or Mengjiang as it was actually called) is that it propably will never get a focus tree as it was just a buffer state with no interesting history. Although since it is in the mongalian part of China you could do something interesting. But with the generic focus tree you at least have 5 more focuses than Italy. Yes, the generic focus tree has more focuses than Italy's focus tree. And some of Italy's focuses are just ripped from the generic focus tree.

Fun fact(s): Mengkukuo didn't really exist. It was part of Manchuria and Manchuria was called Manchukuo 'land of the Manchu' by the Japanese, in an effort to politically separate them from China as well as further justifying Manchu rule in the region, despite the Manchu being a minority group at the time. What the game calls Mengkukuo was an ethnically Mongolian area of Manchuria with a different administration. I don't think you could call it a semi-independent state or an autonomous zone. It was just a region under a different administration created to ensure the cultural and religious beliefs of the Mongolian people were maintained and respected. It's interesting that the game lets you play as this different administration. It adds a tiny bit more flavour to the region but in order for it to make sense, they'd need a unique focus where in one of the paths, they can unify the Mongolian people and such.

I know Manchuria has a focus under Obedience where they quietly annex Mengjiang without asking Japan's approval for the exact reasons you're talking about. I wish the obedience trees were better in general. I like the idea of administering part of the evil empire, then trying to manage it sufficiently as the whole collapses around your ears.

Prince Demchugdongrub was a real guy though. He was an actual Mongol nobleman distantly related to the Qing and he led the Mongol military government that was allied to the Japanese.

A couple things about Mengjiang I think should be known is that at first yes it was an autonomous zone that was somewhat classified as part of manchukuo, but it’s not just that, there were two other autonomous zones. The war with china progressed and the three were United with the first in order to create Mengjiang the “United autonomous zone.” While at first independent from manchukuo, as it had its own coat of arms, currency, army, and presumably an anthem that is still yet to be found. It eventually became an autonomous zone under the reorganized government of China, though it was still its own country essentially. Mengjiang wasn’t ever really part of manchukuo, and if anything was part of the RGC. As the comment above me states, Prince Demchugdongrub was in fact the leader of Mengjiang and not just some dude in charge of a zone. He was royalty and is still seen today as a figure for mongolian nationalism and independence.

I wouldn't be surprised if eventually Paradox releases one of those "Country Packs" like Battle for the Bosporus, giving some of the Asian Focus Trees a bit of an update. Mongolia, Siam, Tibet, and the Philippines could be interesting. Give Mengkukuo a side focus to steal the Mongolian focus tree should they get some troops. As well as reduce the Italian Focus Tree down to 5 Focuses >Ethiopia is Hard >Greece is Hard >Africa is Hard >Cry to Germany >Lose

Mengjiang existed for a very short amount of time, wasn't even a country (it was a separate administration within Manchuria), and had literally nothing happen within its existence.

I have a idea on what happened in Portugal/Spain. I played them a bit before and they don't have a lot of manpower nor a big military industry to have a decent amount of guns for garrisons, and to add to it the A.I probably used a costly template which doomed the Greater Portugal to fall. It was like giving Liberia all of Africa and expect it to maintain order all by itself, without breaking up sooner or later. Very sad.
