Israel closes crossings into Gaza after taking 'operational control' over Rafah checkpoint | DW News

A team of Israeli officials has arrived in Cairo to continue to assess the truce deal accepted by Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said. Meanwhile, his War Cabinet has approved a military operation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, he added. "The War Cabinet has unanimously decided that Israel is continuing the operation in Rafah to exert military pressure on Hamas in order to advance the release of our hostages and the other objectives of the war," a statement from Netanyahu’s office said. He added that efforts to secure a cease-fire would continue, and that Israel would send a delegation to meet with negotiators to try and reach an agreement. His comments came after Hamas announced it had accepted a truce deal proposed by Egypt and Qatar. Meanwhile, the Israeli military announced it was striking Hamas targets in eastern Rafah after issuing evacuation orders to thousands of the city's residents earlier in the day.
The US has been told that the Kerem Shalom crossing into Gaza will reopen on Wednesday, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said. UN and other international aid agencies said closing the two crossings into southern Gaza, Rafah and Israeli-controlled Kerem Shalom, had effectively cut off the enclave from outside aid. The White House called the closure of border crossings into Gaza "unacceptable."

In my country, the older generations have disagreed for decades about educated children to hate specific country and love and praise another country. We rarely talk about it, we are now doing great business with the country we were educated to hate as enemy. Millions now are studying, working in that country, not in the country that we were educated to love, to praise. Education is good, education just in one way is not good. @@dswee3005 Uhmm, because they couldn't agree to give all the hostages back. It's because they've killed them. Why else would they voluntarily give reason for an attack from Israel when all Israel wanted was it's hostages. But now it's too late for that. Hamas has damaged Israel enough. Now, no matter what happens, hostages given back or not, Israel is going to rightfully wipe out Hamas, I expect them to be gone within 3 months at best. I wish the Palestinians actually didn't allow Hamas to be in power but this is what happens when you have allowed them to be in power since 2007. Hamas has had it coming for a long time, and ultimately Israel doesn't have to care about Palestine at all. They've openly celebrated October 7th and 9/11 and the destruction of Israel and America. Enough has been said from them and simply put it's out of our control as well.

There is no such thing in Gaza. You might have a militia group here or there, but that does not an army make and no army = no state. In the grand scheme of things, it's important t know what you're dealing with. This is "a war" just like those "wars" in Africa. Just that one tribe was picked as righteous by a super power.
