Had they been stronger, they wouldn't have demanded Israel for a permanent ceasefire to save its skin. Second, even if they were stronger, it's not contradictory to being cornered. They could hypothetically grow stronger and still be confined to a city block's area which would make dealing with the stronger entity trivial. Third, I watched and listened to the whole video and did not catch any mention of them growing stronger. I heard that most of their battalions were battered, at least in terms of command structure, and that they got some sort of production resuming.

It seems to me that Hamas did not simply build a vast number of tunnels going in different directions under Gaza. I believe that built a city under Gaza, just like roads and bridges in a city. If one tunnel is closed, they know where the connections are and they can maneuver throughout the tunnels as if they were surface roads. I hope that the IDF is mapping out the tunnels they discover so that they would eventually replicate the Hamas network. Like that, the IDF could easily corner Hamas and its leaders.
