I heard a story of a young girl who heard her father's pager go off and wanted to hand it to him. Her arm was blown off. Unfortunately, this was the story that my congregation was focussed on, not the brilliant tactical move. It seems that people have little stomach for the realities of war. I can feel my people moving away from Israel though I remind them that, as Christians, we have a spiritual mandate to support Israel.

If he hadn't have been a Hezbollah terrorist, she would have been unharmed. All the exploding pagers were Hezbollah equipment issued to their senior and mid level personnel. The minimal amount of explosive that can be hidden in such a small object has a very small blast radius that only effect those holding the devices. And it was Hezbollah who decided which of their people would be of sufficient seniority to warrant being on the pager circuit. Collateral damage such as this poor child was not sought by the IDF who do not gain from this tragedy. and would have preferred that the child's father to have answered his own pager.
