In my opinion, the tension in the Middle East is in great part due to the privileged treatment Israel got from the international community at large and the US in particular. Unconditional support enabled Israel increasingly bold attacks on its palestinian population and its surrounding countries. "The right to defend itself" is being stretched so much it loses all credibility. This barely is starting to change, but we're still far from a stage where it has any deterrent effect on Netanyahu.

No they did not, hizb allah or iran did not attack first, and the entire conflict did not start recently, it started way before even hezb allah existed or the islamic state in iran existed, it started in the early 1920s and 1930s when the jewish people coming from europe came to Palestine and ignited in 1948 actually when there was a jewish state announced in the land of Palestine and a lot of Palestinians were either mass killed by the zionists settlers or exiled to other countries by force and terror, go back in history and read what happened in the land of Palestine between 1920s and 1948 to know how this conflict really started
