Well, you help your country’s Jobs by taxing the goods from another country. You act like people are only consumers without needing jobs.
@BadficwriterАй бұрын
@@M_SC The tax is paid by YOUR OWN COUNTRY. NOT THE OTHER COUNTRY. If there is no homegrown alternative, people have no choice but to buy the overpriced foreign good, so they'll have less money. It takes time for alternatives to show up if there is none immediately available so tariffs are not immediately helpful. Trump thinks that extra taxes on the lower class Americans can be used to pay for childcare Americans already have trouble affording. And they'll have less money because of paying taxes on goods they can't get alternatives to. And if there ARE alternatives, no one pays the tariff tax so there is no money collected. Its extremely poor economics.
@fictitiousnightmaresАй бұрын
@@M_SC And yet all you hear from Republicans is how expensive everything is. Interesting. I'm sure those tariffs won't raise prices or anything right? Also we have 3.5 - 4% unemployment rate which is pretty average not indicating any need to 'help' our country's jobs. "You act" like we need job help and make an assumption that tariffs will actually do that somehow. Let's see, so instead of a $60,000 Chevy vs a $45,000 Honda they will jack the price of Honda up to $65,000 or $70,000 and that helps our country's companies. You know, those BILLION dollar companies that make BILLIONS of dollars a year already and their CEOs and executives already make millions of dollars every year, all while RAISING the price for the average working/suffering consumer? Sounds like a great plan there. smh Also during Covid Republicans literally said old people and sick people should happily die to allow our 'economy' to improve (i.e. consumption and corporate profits). They literally don't care about the working people of our country, they only care about that consumerism. Our entire economy is based around it. You completely missed the point that you are not taxing another country. You are increasing the price of those goods. The VERY thing Republicans are crying about right now.

What’s fascinating to me is to watch the faces of the panel. Ed Cox is one of the top lawyers in the country and former advisor to Reagan and Bush Senior. Oh! And he is married to Tricia Nixon, yes President Richard Nixon’s daughter. Oh! And he is a Trustee of the State University of New York and has helped establish over 50 charter schools. Scott Bessent is the Founder of Bessent Capital one of the top Macro Hedge Funds of the world. They specialize in strategies that use macroeconomics. Sander Gerber is founder of Hudson Bay Capital, also a top hedge fund. He used to work with Harry Markowitz the Nobel prize winning Economist and Father of Modern Portfolio Theory. All these guys know better. They know they are looking at a dangerous buffoon. Not one of those people would hire a guy who gave such an incoherent answer in an interview at their own firms. Not even for a janitorial job. How are they able to keep a straight face listening to this gibberish? Or are they so incredibly craven that they just are willing to go along with this because they think he is a useful idiot who will pass laws that benefit them? Because not one person on that table needs to work another day in their lives. The cumulative net worth amongst those 6 people is well over a billion probably over two billion! How much more can they want? WTF!!
@Oh_NannersАй бұрын
My guess is just that, at this stage of the masquerade, Trump is a former US President. The fact that this guy is just an empty bag of gas now is problematic, because when you look at him now, he's not so different than when he was sitting in the oval. So he was then as he is now, and the reason he got to be an incompetent buffoon in front of all those stages while rising in power is a systemic failure of the US society, from education to government, that probably cannot go away without constitutional amendments. In the story it's a kid who calls the emperor naked, because it's harder for nobility and adults to do so

@@nonya.bizness You're right, Trump never promised the government would use tariff money to directly pay for childcare. He's hoping people will make that assumption. If the question is what he's planning on doing regarding the high cost of childcare and he answers that the US is going to be raising a lot of $$ by increasing tariffs, it could mislead the audience into thinking the two things are related but he clearly isn't promising anything of the kind. I think that was the point of the original post -- the GOP could be swimming in excess funds and they'll NEVER use that to fund childcare since they famously don't believe in "handouts."
