Israel must halt its military assault in Rafah, World Court rules

The International Court of Justice(ICJ) ordered Israel on Friday to immediately halt its military assault on the southern Gaza city of Rafah, in a landmark emergency ruling in South Africa's case accusing Israel of genocide.
The ICJ also requested Israel to open the Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza to let in aid. Israel, it added, must provide unimpeded access for UN investigators and report back on its progress within one month.

While internally nations have police and other oganizations to enforce those laws and people who generally have a vested interest in following those laws, laws or treatise between nations are different and geopolitics is more complex. The ICJ told Russia to “immediately suspend the military operations that it commenced on 24 February 2022 in the territory of Ukraine” on March 16 2022 The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Putin on 17 March 2023 And to be clear, Canada signed the Rome Statute, joining the ICC on December 18 1998. We have been a member of the ICJ since 1958.
