it also detects the route of the rocket. if it goes to an open field then the system does not release an interceptor. and it has been upgraded the last year to be able to shoot down the next coming threat which is suicidal UAVs. The Iron Dome is a part of the three layer air defense, short, medium and long(ballistic) range missiles. Arrow 3,2, patriot - Long range. David's Sling - Medium range. Iron Dome - Short range. Not at all correct. Israel has guided missiles, they destroyed a media building, no Hamas there. It is about controlling the narrative. 6 big media conglomerates 4 are from the US. And you know what the most impressive thing is? These interceptors are not at all released automatically. Each one has to be meticulously approved by a human operator, after the system calculates the trajectory of the incoming missile threat and confirms that the missile is indeed aimed towards civilian areas. the US had a program called Chrome Dome in the 60s, where they had B52s stay in the air 24/7, flying several routes to the USSR in order to be ready to attack USSR in the event of a nuclear attack. All the other land that makes up present day Isreal was given to the Zionist Jews during the same time. Land was given to the separate groups due to the downfall of the Ottoman Empire, and since Great Britain was the big stick in the area at the time, they chose who got what. Afterwards, the Arab States in the surrounding area didn't like the Jews being there and attacked them. They lost. They tried to attack again. They lost. They keep trying, and they keep losing. People worry over earthquakes that may never happen or tornados that may never appear, but when there are active missiles and rockets being fired at your city lighting up the night sky, that would be terrifying as just an average citizen I would think, there isn’t much you can do but take shelter. Yeah, the only problem is you've got $50-100 home made rockets, and $80,000 Iron Dome missiles shooting them down. I don't know how long this would be sustainable for. Apparently, some 800 were shot down. By my calculation, that cost Israel $64 million in just one night, against $60 thousand for Hamas. And of course, about 10-20% got through, which means some of those Iron Dome rockets missed, so the cost to Israel is even greater.

To anyone who says that Humus has managed to overwhelm the Iron Dome, the Dome is designed to handle intermittent, irregular, sporadic, unpredictable attacks and not a continuous barrage of missiles. If there is a continuous nonstop attack then it's actually a battle and it's up to the IDF to go in and end the problem at the source. The Dome has done a wonderful job over the years it has operated. Saved hundreds of lives and hundreds of millions of dollars in potential damages.
