A big difference is that the vast majority of citizens in Germany had no idea the full scale of what happened till afterwards and then were against it. Only the higher ups and a handful of soldiers knew about it. German citizens were definitely prejudiced but most would not have supported what happened and were appaled once they did find out.

It's propaganda on both sides, but to Israeli's it's massively xenophobic, anti-Palestinian-anything, taking pride in their cruelty and ethnic cleansing, and to Western populations, it's all lies about how 'victimized' but 'humane' they are. That the U.S. is is still at least pretending to believe their lies and support them 100% is vile. One could argue that we need Israel as an ally to have a presence in the Middle East, sure, but this argument falls apart when it is Israel increasingly becoming the volatile perpetrator. So why such unfettered and unconditional support? Our broken campaign and 'donation' system in which AIPAC and the like can literally buy loyalty and legislation, combined with a strong Evangelical Christian belief that Zionism will bring forth the second coming of Christ. In other words, genocide is okay as long as Money and cherry-picked biblical versus of 'Christianity' are at play.
