Personally, half my family is Egyptian. We are all like that. More than 30 families in the Gaza Strip are called Al-Masri ["Egyptian"]. Brothers, half of the Palestinians are Egyptians and the other half are Saudis. Who are the Palestinians? We have many families called Al-Masri, whose roots are Egyptian. Egyptian! They may be from Alexandria, from Cairo, from Dumietta, from the North, from Aswan, from Upper Egypt. We are Egyptians. The so called Palestinians are not even from Palestine!!!!!! "Never forget this one point: There is no such thing as a Palestinian people, there is no Palestinian entity, there is only Syria. You are an integral part of the Syrian people, Palestine is an integral part of Syria." You cannot defeat a Zionist in an argument. They don’t accept any facts. Their identity is based on a false conception of Israel as just and good natured and the whole world as antisemitism. To accept any Israeli fault would be psychological death. I used to think they were consciously lying but now I realise they actually believe what they say. Only a rigid process of de-radicalisation once Israel falls can save them. You can convince neutral non-Zionist people though. Just explain to them what Gaza is. It feels similar to my spirit to the riff between dr stein and dr west; there seems to be no one capable of bringing coalition together, simply broken and imperfect humans flailing. It all seems to be happening so fast and yet in slow motion-the genocide, which is also a realization that many many many people who we thought were living are simply dead inside- there is an awareness of all of the death that we are surrounded by, and the US is a collapsing empire and given its prior stature, the harder the fall, and it’s reverberations felt around the globe. 1:31:45 one thing that draw me to Palestine was that I always learned about genocide in an abstract way. This is the first time that, me, as an elementary educator, I would see kids the same age as my students being killed every other hour in horrendous ways. I started to learn more about the occupation to make sense of all these killings and now I’m here in August, 10 months after this phase of this story caught the attention of millions and millions. This is the first time a genocide has been streamed live on social media, and people are documenting their last days/minutes alive. That changes a person.

It can be complicated, as the word and the claim of it can be used as political and economic leverage. There are a lot of claims to sift through if you want to give every argument the time of day; there are many bogus claims of genocide resting on nationalist sentiment and not, as Finkelstein calls it, serious scholarship.

You are an integral part of the Syrian people, Palestine is an integral part of Syria." I share Norman’s videos often when I come across a friend who just stares blankly when I begin talking about the history of Zionism; the horrors of the occupation of Palestine; and the wide spread israeli propaganda that attempts to deceive and distract the world from their atrocities. He is so well spoken and balances empathy and facts so seamlessly, he doesn’t rely on antics, and he maintains his composure with somewhat immature interviewers or repetitive questions. I really hope this interviewer takes the time to recognize that genocide/war/violence does not = bombs or nuclear warfare. There are insidious ways the powers that be dominate us and it’s not all massive explosions and fire bombs.

One of the misconceptions that is made is that it is indicated that genocide only occurs when millions of people have been killed in an ethnic group. In 1948, the UN adopted the ‘Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide’, which came into force in 1951. The convention defines genocide as: Any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group: b. causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; c. deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; d. taking measures intended to prevent births within the group; e. forcibly transferring children of the group to another group. When determining genocide, the international court of justice does not only look at the number of victims killed. The court will determine through factual legal research whether at least 3 of the above genocide criteria are met. If this is the case, then the international court has determined on a legal basis that genocide has occurred. This means that, for example, 5,000 civilians killed can be genocide. Gaza situation: An estimated 190,000 civilians of which 18,000 children were killed. 80.000 civilians were injured of which approximately 40.000 were seriously injured. 20.000 children who lost at least 1 or 2 parents. There are many examples of families where 60 to 100 family members were killed in one day. For example, an American doctor of Palestinian descent had 100 family members killed in one day. This doctor refused an invitation from Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Furthermore, the thousands of survivors, the injured, seriously injured and children suffered severe psychological trauma due to the daily bombardments and deaths, etc. Infrastructure and health facilities have been destroyed by Israel. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), up to 80 percent of civilian infrastructure. Including homes, hospitals, schools and water supplies have been destroyed by Israel. As a result, seriously injured, sick and pregnant women can no longer be treated properly. Pregnant women give birth outside, in tents or between concrete rubble in an unhygienic environment. Israel has destroyed all basic necessities such as water supplies, power stations, fuel storages, food storages, shops and pharmacies etc. As a result, Israel uses water and food scarcity as a weapon. In addition, Israel has destroyed all educational institutions and cultural heritage in Gaza. Such as schools, universities, churches, mosques and cemeteries. Because Israel has created a very seriously unhygienic environment in Gaza. As a result, many Palestinian citizens will die from diseases. For example, a polio epidemic and other diseases have broken out in Gaza due to poor hygiene. Israel has destroyed the entire Gaza and made it unliveable. According to experts, it will take between 15 and 20 years to clean up the destruction and rubble alone. There it will take approximately more than 12 years before Gaza is completely rebuilt. Based on satellite images, researchers from the CUNY Graduate Center and Oregon State University have made accurate estimates of the extent of the damage in Gaza. As much as 68 percent of the buildings in the north of Gaza have been damaged or destroyed. Comparable to the damage after the bombing of civilians in German cities during World War II. In Germany, this destruction took place over a period of two years. In Gaza, it was within two months. And it is not over yet. This information can be found everywhere on the internet. This information is also available to the world. You do not have to be a lawyer to be able to draw a conclusion from this information. That Israel is engaged in ethnic cleansing in Gaza. Israeli cabinet members, military and Israeli people have made hundreds of genocide statements against Palestinians in Gaza. International court also looks at statements made to genocide during legal investigation. Example of the genocide case of the Yugoslav wars. During the Yugoslav wars, war crimes took place in various places in the former country. One of them was during the fall of Srebrenica. In which approximately 8,000 Muslim boys and men from the enclave were murdered. These murders took place on 11 July 1995 and the days after. After Bosnian Serbs had gained control of the enclave. Which enjoyed protection from Dutch peacekeepers. On 26 February 2007, the International Court of Justice in The Hague described the Srebrenica massacre of July 1995 as genocide. There was also persecution of Serbs in Croatia. Croatian troops burned down houses and the local Serb population in the Krajina region in Croatia was massacred. Serbian troops in turn murdered many Croatian civilians in southern Croatia and Bosnia. So even though only 8,000 Muslims were murdered in the former Yugoslavia. The international court of justice has concluded that genocide has occurred. Based on legal research and genocide guidelines. In other words, it does not have to be hundreds of thousands of civilians who are murdered before genocide can be said to have occurred.
@snam853 ай бұрын
Your last paragraph is worded incorrectly. ~9000 boys and men were murdered in Srebrenica, but many thousands more were massacred or killed throughout the war. The whole siege of Sarajevo, very medieval in the way it was enforced, was a war crime by itself.
